If marner is really entertaining other team offers , than he can just go. i dont want him on this team anymore. I dont even know what RFA has come out and say this. thars bs! sign kappy johnnson and have more cap
room and get a solid D in a trade for marner and we good. enough with this fool.
Doesn't mean anything, he's just exercising his right. We have a right to spew nonsense on these boards with no consequences lol, Marner is just exercising his rights as a player. No big deal, tbh.

Hopefully he is traded. The Leafs finally rise up from the gutter and our " stars" are going to pull this ? f*** them. I would legit trade all 3. As inane or drastic as it may sound. Obviously, it would never happen. However, Big guns league wide signed for max term, Crosby, MacKinnon, Kane etc etc. What the f*** is the problem with the Leafs big 3 ? 5 years ? Should be 7 or 8. Money is not enough, they have twigs up their assholes. If they don't want to be here in 5 years, they can request trades. Sign the god damn contracts that were good enough for the stars before them. Obviously with inflated dollar amounts. ( Current market value ). No one sensible is really saying " leave enormous amounts of money on the table."

Other teams: we'll offer 10 and that comes with barely any sponsorship money or signing bonus

Marners camp: Deal

Leafs: We'll offer 10 and many sponsorship opportunities and the contract will be front loaded with signing bonuses so you'll be making around 16 million the 1st 2 years of your deal

Marners camp: No deal

Basically HFboards thoughts..... or maybe Marners agent is just really that dumb. :sarcasm:

Yeah I havent said that we've heard anything concrete about Marner. But Notsince67 said that WN had spoken to other teams during his hold out and all Im asking for is proof of that. Liars are the worst people.

He said it was "reported" which it was....
It was also reported that the leafs wanted to trade nylander, and PK would be a target.
Doesn't mean it was fact, nor was it presented as fact.
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/beyond-headlines-leafs-nylander-hasnt-received-offer-sheet

"Some NHL teams have worked through it as a thought exercise. Others have crunched numbers and made phone calls and more seriously considered the possibility of extending William Nylander an offer sheet"

All the reports said he wanted 8.5, yet he signed for 7.... We will see.

I'd like to see sources for what you're saying... Surely you wouldn't make crap up as you go.
Yeah me too
Nylander never talked about other teams never showed any interest in other teams but he always wore Leafs gear during his holdout and stated multiple times that he wants to be in Toronto

That article doesn't report that Nylander talked with other teams though. Just that they were interested.

All the reports said he wanted 8.5, yet he signed for 7.... We will see.
Yup. All players start high. This should only be held against Marner if it leads to an unsolvable situation, or a solution that Marner forces upon us.

If it was reported that WN met with teams, show me the links?

The article you linked has already been linked here and a report that teams Might have Considered the Possibility of Extending an OS is so vague it shouldn't have been published.

Just the type of reporting we have come to expect from TOR media.

By no means does It mean that WNs reps met with other teams just because some anynomous teams was thinking of Maybe, Possibly, extending a offer sheet.

Which I was told had been reported.

I guess it depends how you take the wording of:

"Others have crunched numbers and made phone calls and more seriously considered the possibility of extending William Nylander an offer sheet."

I would take that for calling Nylanders camp for numbers...... although again, means nothing to me. What's reported, and whats a fact are Two different things.

Not a single "insider" bats anywhere near .250.

It would be funny if Marner gets an offer sheet for an amount we would have given him ourselves, but we opt not to match and just take the four 1sts. Implausible, I agree, since I don't think anyone is paying Marner incrementally more than the threshold for the highest compensation tier, but it would be an interesting quandary nonetheless. I still think it's going to be a very rude awakening for the Marner camp if and when they decide to explore their OS options.

It said they made calls, which one would assume is to the Nylander camp, if not, who else are they calling?

It was also reported the Nylander had a KHL deal lined up, and was ready to sit.

It was also reported that the leafs WANTED to trade nylander

It was also reported the Leafs WANTED Nylander on a long term deal....

ECT, ETC, ETC....... This makes me laugh the most when now certain people who laughed at insiders during the willy lockout, are now all on board the insider train when it comes to Marner...

I'm not even arguing with you......... The media is trash and with every wrong prediction, they just move on, and pretend it never happened. Yet, somehow human nature is very forgiving. Forgetting history has always been one of our major faults.

I sense that you have trouble getting your true feelings out. Don't hold back.

It's not that funny..... There is a lot to consider depending on who that team is that made the offer.

4 1sts from Ottawa isn't the same as 4 1sts from the Preds.

Players/agents/coaches see the organization as an ATM machine with endless piles of cash. Pair that with a soft management group and you have the current situation. Tavares is the only one who took a discount to play here and as far as I'm concerned should be the next captain.

Annoys me, Toronto is a great city, one of the best cities I've ever had the privilege to spend time in (I'm not local) these guys are worshipped, have everything on their doorstep, want for nothing and that's still not enough they feel like they have to fleece the team for every last penny

What's a million or 2 a year when companies are lining up with lucrative endorsements just because you're a leaf, win a cup here and you're set for life

The GM could have stayed on as an AGM, but he was greedy and forced the team to loser multiple top end executives just so he could make a little more money.

If you hate on marner, hate on the GM for the same reason.
