Is Spencer wearing a cage because of injury, or personal preference?

He's an 06 and they have sat Enright and Gordon. Guessing a couple of injuries and they may have called Spencer up, hence the cage. Not sure of the exact rules but usually a cage is a first year player who isn't signed to a A card I believe.

I was just about to edit my post and say he was recently called up from U18.

Outplaying Ben Gaudreau today should give some confidence to Leenders

Sure did, not that I honestly expect much from a rookie tender to begin with, it's a process, high draft choice or not, and he came up big today. Nice rebound (pun intended) after his first game. With some roadies coming up over the next two weeks it's great to see a confidence builder like today.

There's a lot to like about this weekend, 6 pts in the standings amongst them.

you are correct

Anyone have any information on the Kasper Larsen situation? Sounds like the Steelheads still have his rights, but they would have to move out an OA and an import to get him on the roster.

I guess Hull and Callaghan would be the best move? Might be worth it

They will try their best to move Hull and Uberti.

With the back end being shored up with Larsen, moving Callaghan would be a ‘2 steps forward, 1 step back’ approach — while burning both an OA and Import card. Plus Callaghan is a long tenured player that is a member of the leadership team. Uberti may be the better player, but the team is looking to strengthen D and can take the hit on the F. Assuming Callaghan is retained, bottom D will get pushed down to Jr A or play 4th line rotation.

Not sure what the OA market is for either Uberti or Callaghan, but if Mississauga has to, they’ll walk away from one of them. Larsen is going to play.

Feel bad for Hull. Tough to come over from Europe only to be dealt very early on.

Hull can be put on waivers if Richmond decides Larson is worth an import & OA spot. First year imports cannot be traded until after the Christmas break.

I believe they have to have played 1 game as well.
Idk for sure, but there must have been exceptions made over the years and now considered precedence; a player not granted release or loan in season, an illness preventing play, maybe a precedent set during covid, a player injured in practice before playing, … Maybe it’s one regular season or exhibition game, though I think it’s if the OHL rights of a player playing elsewhere are held and the player signed by an OHL team (before the end of the scheduled season or mid-February when rosters are frozen and at a time the player would not be considered OA).

Definitely exceptions for COVID. Not sure if any of the others are accounted for or not?

Idk, but I’m 100% certain that once a precedence is set any language in an agreement or contract can be burned as it is no longer binding. A ‘one time’ thing would have to be a written amendment agreed to by all parties involved. Odds are exceptions have been made.
If Edmonds was a one time covid exception, the OHL board of governors agreeing to an amendment would have been news worthy.

Looks like Kasper is listed on their roster, currently Hull is as well, I never checked the ID"s roster.

KL has nothing listed this season on HDB or Elite P. I googled around and found that he had an ATO with the Marlies, guess I missed the checking transactions when the Marlies released him.

I would keep Chargin' Charlie, obviously (to me FWIW, which is likely very little) Hull will be dealt or quite likely has been waived. I would see if Urberti can bring anything back, though they may have to string this along for bit hoping some demand is there for him. I know we need offence, just like last year but I'd go that route.

Callahan & Uberti for Roger? The steelheads would have a massive and veteran top four D once again. It looks like any or all of Enright, Cooke, & Struthers acquired from Niagara could be used in trade as well since they are 18-19 and could use more TOI.

Interesting option, but I’m not sure if Kingston would do that deal, and I don’t think Mississauga covets Roger. Kingston isn’t expected to make a run for it (and assuming Wright comes back the expectation is that he will be traded for picks to help with a rebuild) so trading one OA for two OAs seems odd. Enright is also expected to be back in the line-up soon. He has been out with an injury.

Struthers and Cooke could be used to add to a trade, though I suspect Mississauga tries to hold on to Cooke. Struthers on the other hand should ask for a trade as he is playing every other game on the 4th line and needs TOI. Maybe the crazy GM in Niagara will trade for him? 🤪
