he played with richmonds kid and i have a feeling there was some personal bias there. im not saying the kid isnt a great goalie, he may be, but i know other teams didnt have him nearly as high as mississauga took him
Richmond says he left it up to the goalie scout to make the pick, but I agree that Richmond saw the goalie enough to know if he likes the kid and agree to the pick

I guess Leenders will be given a long leash as a young tender if there is a personal connection, let alone where he was drafted. Any idea what neighbourhood some other teams had him in?

I certainly don't have the knowledge to properly critique coaches and GMs but I have had more faith in Richmond as a coach, more so then GM.

Assume MISS loses the rights to Nixon when they cut him since he wasn't on a card from them but was there on a tryout, no?

He was listed on their preseason roster, I have no clue if he is on their protected list.

I'm not sure where teams had him but having watched the GTHL and ETA a bunch, he was my #1 goalie from those leagues

Dress like a seat night in Missy tonight? Why do they not have fans attending games? When we went during the championship run in 2017 it looked just the same.

I never pay attention to the three stars, almost always a head scratcher.

Liked the effort against OS as compared to their Friday game against Erie. They didn't get a shot on goal until there was a couple of minutes left in the first period and got out shot by a team on an extended roadie. Saturday night was much more along the expected.

Looks like a tough weekend coming up, Fri in London who will be pushing for a win, a odd Sat late afternoon game against Osh and then the usual start time for a Sunday game against the Sting. Sarnia has a home game Fri, off Sat, bus trip Sunday. Could be looking at a tired school in the pool on Sunday, expecting the Sting to be a fresher team.

With a 3 in 3 I'm expecting to see Leenders get a start, one the one hand he may not get the fullest support Sunday with tired legs in front of him but I'd be tempted to start him against a west conference team.

Too much going on in Mississauga/Toronto area. They've never been able to get fans out. They've been bottom 5 in attendance every single year for over 10 years now

I often travel to various cities within 2hrs or so from the GTA area for my job, less frequently even further, often in OHL towns. I have a Steelhead keychain and I've had quite a few conversations about OHL hockey as someone recognizes the logo and engages me in small talk. I've NEVER had this happen in Mississauga. With all the Pro sports teams here based in Toronto you never will read about or hear about OHL hockey in the papers or radio. Here it's almost a cult following, as opposed to many towns where the local OHL team makes the front page of their paper.

I think you have to look at the size of the city and the demographics. Mississauga will never get a huge OHL fan base because the sports market in that area is saturated with so many levels of hockey to watch and other sports or activities.
800,000 - 900,000 reside there but not many have going to OHL games at the top of their list

haha...I have a Steelheads headcover for my 3 wood and nobody has ever commented on it. Earlier this summer i get paired with a guy who has the same headcover, so of course i ask...he received it from his boss who happens to be Nic Canade's father. It blew his mind when i started talking about him playing pro in Finland....for sure...cult following LOL

A few previous posters hit the nail on the head when it comes to attendance. As a former season ticket holder (2011 - 2017) and former resident of the GTA, there is just so much more for people and families to do vs Owen Sound, SSM, North Bay, etc...

Between local population, demographics and proximity to Toronto it'll always be tough for Mississauga OHL teams to draw well or above average. Local media will cover and focus on Leafs, Raptors, TFC, NFL, etc... before the OHL. Whereas in a place like Windsor the OHL is covered and promoted more by the media.

Zebeski played very well in London and it looks like he was getting first or second line minutes in the 3rd period. Very impressive start to his season...looks like a late round diamond this guy.

I missed preseason and camp and was surprised somewhat to see how well he has been playing so far this year.

BTW, how is the parking working out this year for Platinum ticket holders? I see no parking pass, heard that you need to show your ticket from your device. Sounds like a hassle, I've been able to get a ride there and back sofar, but not today.

just flash this at the attendants...came on my welcome package aka an envelope with a piece of paper and this card

what's the deal with Kasper Larson? he was listed as a scratch for today's game. was that a typo or is he back this year? If he is back, that would spell the end for Valdemir Hull i suppose

And also would be the end of either Uberti or Callaghan

Good to see a regulation win against a conference opponent.

Yeah, I did a double take when I glanced at the lineup. Weird...

Could be a sluggish game today, gotta think there will be some tired legs out there this afternoon while Sarnia had yesterday off. I expect the Sting to come out flying.
