Holy ****... he got fired and not Berube... what the **** is up with this world?
Toronto is the center of the hockey universe and a pressure cooker. Carlyle got a lot of flack last year when the Leafs took that nose dive in March, losing 12 games and putting them out of the playoffs. I don't think it's his fault, altogether, he's tried to impress they play better in their own end, even making changes to the system (and Kessel balked and wouldn't adjust, he's basically a very talented 'I" player who doesn't see beyond his own needs and has been a problem for every coach he's played for)
It's easier to sacrifice the coach then 23 players. But Nonis and SHanahan won't end it there. The Leafs have no leadership, that's been visible for some time. The players are too selfish, won't commit to playing team defense and it's a bad mix.
They need to make some big trades and get some better 2 way players who are team playesr with leadership
And Babcock is a guy they will target, since it's not money (Detroit offered him a boatload and he hasn't agreed) he wants more empowerment in player and personnel decisions which Holland won't give up.
He'd be a good fit there, the right kiind of coach and a part of him would love to be the GM that finally got a CUp back up there.
I think they will trade some big names over the summer and restructure
Carlyle is a good coach and will land on his feet.
