When you draft 2nd overall, you should get a player at or near Pettersson's level. We have twice in 13 years and didn't come close either time.
Unfortunately, we don't really know what Patrick's ceiling is. He didn't come into the league like Pettersson has, but he has shown flashes.

I just hope he gets a chance to fulfill his potential.

Even before the migraines, it was pretty clear his ceiling wont touch Pettersson's. Is what it is. He can still be a good player for us but its just really frustrating. So many franchise cornerstones have been selected 2nd overall.

Like Pronger, yet teams just kept trading him away. Unfortunately there's no cure for stupid.

Just look at some of the names between JVR & Patrick

Doughty, Hedman, Seguin, Landeskog, Barkov, Eichel, Laine

Hell id settle for Patrick turning into a Sam Reinhart level player at this point and hes consider a mild dissapointment as a 2nd overall.

Has anyone rode his own coattails more than Patrice Bergeron? Dude has been overrated for 3-4 seasons now

Maybe Toews? Definitely Toews.

at the end of his rookie year he showed some significant flashes. His 2nd year was a bust, i was shocked by how he was not able to build upon his late season surge.

to have back to back in the playoffs is inexcusable.
It happened back in the day with far less conditioned players, and the circumstances are different than ever before. It is what it is... just a different challenge. It’s another reason why an asterisk is stupid for the winner.

I wonder if it will be a Busy off season. I think it might “seem” busier than usual due to the condensed nature of this off season but I think we will be right around the usual amount of trades.

Probably see the usual 2/3 bigger names moved and then the rest bunch of third/fourth liners moved for spare parts or in Pittsburgh’s case 1st rounders.

Seems like Marchessault had an epic meltdown on instagram after last nights loss.

What a moron.
