Good question. I guess it depends on what you prefer. MacKinnon's biggest strengths are Couturier's biggest weaknesses and vice versa. MacKinnons's fast, powerful and dynamic. Not words I would use to describe Couturier. On the other hand, MacKinnon isn't known for having a high level hockey sense or being elite defensively.

They would be my dream one-two punch at center.
I think MacK is current flavour of the month just like Matthews, Barkov and Peterson at one point or another.

Dallas had some of the most fun games so far these playoffs and Heiskanen has been so surgical it's mesmerizing. Also thankfully Bergevin didn't resign Radulov for some reason he's having quite a run.

Mack has basically played at this level consistently for the last two seasons. I know COVID has us all questioning the concept of time, but thats a really long month.
That was figure of a speech, but before avalanche made it to second round this year hockey fans weren't so quick to cream their pants over him. It's recency bias at its best when you have people claiming he is better than mcjesus
In the meantime Morgan Reilly went from norris hype to matt carle in a span of one year.

I'm fairly certain people were creaming their pants over him last year when he threw the Avs on his back when Rantanen was out for like 8 weeks. Mackinnon being a beast isn't anything new.

Where the hell you been?

He just had his 3rd straight season being a top 5 forward in the league.

Last two years

MacKinnon 1.27 p/pg
Matthews 1.11 p/pg
Barkov 1.07 p/pg
Pettersson 0.95 p/pg

If I'm magically adding one non-McDavid player to this team, it's him.

Its honestly not even close, either. Mack plays like a bull, actually uses his size, and oozes speed and skill. He's like a more modern version of Lindros, just a little less physical in terms of mixing it up.

Don't worry, that's what Frost will be like if he stays in the magical development zone known as the AHL long enough. :sarcasm:

Gordon is a wizard.

To a degree I get it. People are being exposed to MacKinnon & Colorado at a higher volume in the playoffs then they normally would be. So there is some reinforcing going on with actually seeing it with your own eyes.

Hockey’s a very regional sport & it doesn’t help with teams in the western part of North America. But yeah he’s been a top 5ish player for years now.

I find the lack of faith in Francouz in this thread very disturbing
