He can't win. Gets roasted by one segment of fans for the Cozens and Power early long-term extensions, while others wonder what's taking so long on the next batch.

I'm more on your side though. I'd like to see these guys locked in asap, especially Byram.
It's results over process thinking.

One huge factor is what do they expect to spend against the cap moving forward. That may drive some bridge deals this summer.

I mean yeah, that's our fanbase's ethos now (and somewhat deservedly so.)

We have fans saying Adams only gets fleeced when he has maybe the two best trades in the league in the last calendar year.

Oh well, gotta win.

What are the 2 best trades?

Maybe he means Mitts for Byram and Savoie for McLeod.

I'm not sure those were the best trades. Byram just wasn't what we needed. Mitts had 59 points for us in '22-'23 and was solid last season when we traded him, he had 47 points in 62 games. Cozens now has 26 points in 53 games.

I'm okay with Savoie for McLeod, but I can't say it's the best deal in the world.

Savoie looking good in the AHL...I wouldn't count it as a win.

It will eventually be a loss...sad part is we are wasting time for when it's a win.

Yeah I don't see either of those trades as anywhere close to being the best

Well, McLeod was actually really solid for us, and I wouldn't say it's a win, but I'm OK with that deal because we can't keep sitting on all these prospects and doing nothing.

I don't see it either, Adams first created a hole at center by trading Mitts for a defenseman we don't need, and then filled the hole at center in another deal, but with lower production and 3C. While McLeod is a decent 3C, we now have a top 6C problem due to Cozens' downfall.

Fair enough, I think they're both excellent. That he failed to backfill other positions in support of those deals is a knock on him, but not in these trades.

Byram is a level up from Mitts as a player and an asset. We have a chance to lock him up at a fair rate for his entire prime.

McLeod is a guaranteed middle 6 center with good size and elite speed. Savoie is a potential middle 6 C/W with below average size and durability concerns that will never go away. You make the trade 10/10 times, even if Savoie is trending well in the AHL.

Adams' errors have been the trades he hasn't made, not the ones he has made.

FWIW on Savoie, he had a hot 6 game stretch that ended a month ago where he had 4 goals and 7 assists. Before that stretch, he had 5g, 7a in 16 games. Since then he's had 3g, 5a in 12 games. Isak Rosen has never had a stretch as bad as those 12 games in the AHL.

In fact, outside of those six games, Savoie's AHL stat line has been:
34 games
8 goals
12 assists

He's not exactly tearing it up. He just had a really good week and a half.

I do not believe that Adams was hired based on his ability to be a GM.

And I do not believe that his future employment as GM will be determined by wins and losses. That is because I place more value on the things that Terry Pegula has said publicly than things that media members or fans say.

Plus, has Adams acted like a GM who had a mandate to make the playoffs this season or he was fired?
Maybe its different this year because the media finally picks up on all his bad decisions.

Kind of weird to cherry pick stats and punish someone for a hot streak. Do we take Tages 8 points in 3 games away? It's well established the Condors are a black hole offensively and by all accounts he is their best defensive F.

Nah. With the cap skyrocketing, his $4M cap hit will be the going rate for 3rd pair defensemen. SOMEONE will think that they can "fix" him (personally, I think he's being scapegoated by the fanbase big time......he's not NEARLY as bad as some think/say).
The constant injuries maybe affecting on how he plays the game?

Semantics
Either he will good in the nhl, or he won't. Time will tell.

31 pts in 40 games, and people are acting like the Sabres gifted a guaranteed top 6 forward in the NHL. He’s been fine. At best. And has had relatively long stretches of no production. My issue is that a narrative developed during his hot streak that the Sabres got rolled and it hasn’t subsided since he went cold. It should have. Sabres dealt from a position of strength and made a good hockey deal. That’s all I’m saying.

Don't think I've seen much about that. McLeod disappeared for 30 games this season though.

Considering how his line has been constantly changing and he's even been 4C for some reason, he's currently on pace for 43 points a season after missing a few games, potentially his best season and he's not even playing PP. Cozens with a ton of PP minutes is on pace for 40 points a season and looks bad at center.

We need a hockey player that doesn't disappear for 20+ games in November/December, McLeod was just another one that did.

In this team almost everyone disappears, but you are wrong, even when McLeod does not produce, he is a very useful player without the puck, which for example cannot be said about Peterka or Cozens. Of course, ideally, McLeod should regularly score points, but we did not acquire a top 6 C with a 60-point defense C, but a 3C with 30-35 points, now he is on pace for 43 points. I'm okay with McLeod and this trade.
