This is just hindsight fantasizing but I always wonder what if we went Rantanen instead of Provy in 2015 and then Heiskanen over Patrick in 2017.
Or drafting both Provy and Heiskanen and then be able to move Sanheim for any forward the team could want.

Hopefully Patrick comes back but blowing that pick stings badly.

That Calgary goaltending was Elliott/Neuvirth 2018 Playoffs bad...holy shit.

Nah, just bad coaching, goalies don't matter.

You can't always find a top ten goalie, but jeez, you got to stop a few shots.
This is why teams go into a shell, if you don't trust your goalie, you hope to squeeze by with a lead.
We know that as Flyer fans, we've seen this movie before, mediocre goalie has a hot streak, then reality sets in.

The value of a goalie like Hart is not just that he keeps games close, but allow the team to play more aggressively, knowing that there's a good chance Hart will clean up their mistakes.

Patrick was the consensus second overall pick; he was talked about as the likely first overall for much of his draft year. Hischier vs. Patrick was debated here and the consensus was that the Flyers were the lucky ones because New Jersey would have to make the tough choice between the two. They were never taking anyone other than Patrick at number 2. It just totally stings that the three players who went right after him all look to be budding superstars.

Also, Nick Suzuki went at 13, which is where the Flyers would've picked had they not won that lottery. No guarantee they would've picked him, but just adding to the sting. Silver lining of that first round, of course, is Frost, who I'm looking forward to watching when he makes the NHL full time in 2023. (Though we'd probably be saying the same about Suzuki if he had wound up here)

To be quite honest with you guys, I'm disgusted by Mike Milbury's reprehensible comments on women during the Isles Caps game last night. I'm glad to see that the knives of cancel culture are out for him now. It's very upsetting to see such a sensible hockey voice make such a crude joke. I hope he takes time off to reflect on his comment and never come back.

Except Neuvirth was playing lights out and Hak was still in his shell. Rather than capitalizing on the play he was getting from his goalie he ran the team like a coward.
