I don't even remember the guy's name to tag in here. I've got all my shitshow snacks ready and everything. I'm the worst.

Hopefully the Los Angeles Times doesn’t see this thread.
That one is a bit low quality, this one has much better resolution:

This is why you’re a proud Desert Duck.

I found his name.

Not gonna tag him but never forget that Islesfan22 said:

To be honest I could care less about gay marriage or who you have sex with. You could bang a horse for all I care.

Sigh... supporting basic equality for a group of people is not a political position

It’s not, and it shouldn’t be. But you can bet your ass it’s going to be used, as it has been to just divide and conqueror the peasants.

It’s not crazy to admit that part. Basic equality is great. It’s bordering on trying for special treatment above others. Im good with the league move on this, cool if others think they should have done differently.

*ducks preemptively*

That’s why it never should have been a thing in the first place. This was always going to happen eventually when you tell people that they’re going to be advertising something instead of giving them an opportunity to volunteer/opt-in. The only question was “when, who, and which cause” would spark the issue.

But of course a league like the NHL wouldn’t be able to think ahead and avoid problems before they pop up.

I’m bored, and a little feisty today lol.

Does it have to be a whole month and seemingly constantly everywhere? Shoving it down our throats, and up our ass. It’s just another thing that’s going to be milked for election reasons.
The fact of the matter is that it’s shoved down everyone’s throats no more than military appreciation, hockey fights cancer, player honors, etc it just happens to be the only one people have a problem with, which is some way shows the importance of the night, does it not?

Caveat for context: there is no question that this stuff gets taken too far and when it comes to social media, it gets radicalized/politicized/thrown way out of context, etc. some of that is without a doubt by design too. It becomes very difficult to have a discussion about some of the most basic principles about the topic. I wish it could be that simple, but nothing is these days

That’s a decent point.

A question would be, why is it such a big deal of one chooses to not? Like if a dude didn’t want to wear one for military night or something. People are just nutty AF these days, and love to feel they have control over society with the next trend. For one damn time talk about income inequality - and I’ll choose to believe this shit isn’t just being fed to further separate people.

It’s certainly reasonable to think it’s no big deal if one chooses to not and yes, people are nutty. However, I think it’s naive to believe people don’t want to wear it because of indifference. It’s because they don’t accept it on some level.

There isn’t a hockey fights racism night. (Ignoring the fact that there’s without a doubt people who would have a problem with that) it is because it’s reached a point in society where everyone knows the color of your skin doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you or is illegal. I suspect the pride stuff will get to that point. There are a lot of historical similarities between pride/anti pride movements and racial movements from the past

I have a problem with "thank you for your service" night. Maybe we should treat our service men and women better the other 364 days?
Then again, I believe we should bring back the draft and require that all serve in some capacity to earn the right to vote.
We'd be a healthier society if we forced different people to co-exist in close quarters for 12-24 months in their formative years.

I really enjoyed how that scantily-clad Steph chick on Twitter responded to someone’s defense of the NHL’s Pride jersey decision by accusing him of being an under-5’9” male.

Nothing says you are anti-discrimination like immediately attacking someone for a different biological feature they can’t control. LMAO.
