Tv up here today discussing Dubas.

He wanted more control because their were moves he wanted to make that Shanny said no to.

Pitt was close to signing another guy as GM but when Dubas came available it changed everything.

Thinks they may not even name a GM since it's Kyles show to run.

Mentioned Spezza could be a guy that follows Dubas to Pitt and gets a title like AGM.

Since 2019, said Pitt lacked a real identity and direction. Said hiring Dubas brings lots of excitement compared to Hextall and Burke hirings.

Also said lots of hard work ahead due to lack of assets and bad contracts like Granlund. But said Kyle has been great at bringing in cheap guys who way outplay their contracts...Hyman, Bunting, Spezza, etc...

Hockey players are the worst

It’s not that size doesn’t matter. Although in today’s game most players even the taller ones are slimmed down compared to the past. So it’s more so reach that is valuable. But the people that are in charge of the game are so paralyzed by it to the point they over & underrate players based on it.

Most of those players listed have adequate puck/offensive skills though.

Players have slimmed down, but it's on the margin, I think average weights have declined about 5 lbs.
So you're talking 6'3 225 instead of 6'3 230.

The bigger impact is probably a higher minimum level of mobility, even big guys have to skate at a level that's significantly better than a decade or two ago, though L Schenn is a cockroach, can't be killed. So the slowest guys are out of the game.

6'3 230lbs.

There's probably < 10 skaters in the league who are 230lbs+. And most of them are like 6'6.
Here are guys <=6'3 and >=220 lbs

Same here. That was heartbreaking. Especially after the Stevens-Kariya incident. Still probably my favorite non-Flyer goal ever scored...and maybe the best goal call in NHL history by Gary Thorne.

Speaking of which, f*** Scott Stevens.

JS Giguere was on fire that playoffs, wish we had some analytics back then to see the extent of it.

Weird team though, they had two top tier talents in Kariya & Selanne so not like a rag tag to the fullest like the 96 Florida team. But in the end probably didn’t have as much depth as NJ who were one of the deeper organizations of that era.
