When was the last time there were back to back 4 goal games in the playoffs, let alone the regular season? I think goalies “suck” anymore because the league has been doing all that they can to hamper defensemen and goalies. We’ll be on a seesaw soon where it’s how do we get scoring back down?

Has to be the first time that guys score 4 goals on consecutive nights in the playoffs and both lose. Has to be.
Players scoring four goals on two consecutive nights has only happened twice from what I can tell... the last two days and in 1988 but in '88 both teams won so you seemingly are correct.

Reportedly, Petr Klíma has passed away earlier today (no details). 58 years young :( RIP

SSS. The same rules have applied to goalies for a decade. Pads were shrunk a while back.
Just a year when other than Schmid, few goalies are stepping up in the playoffs.

I think if you looked at scoring chances and compared that to previous years, there's not a lot of difference, just a group of cold goalies allowing more goals than usual.

You literally find an excuse for absolutely everything. It's fascinating

"Excuse." You think offense suddenly "jumped' this season? This is just a SSS phenomena, a couple hot players and cold goalies. Most teams are shooting around their regular season average.

Florida sh% 9.5 regular season, 11.8% playoffs
Vegas 10.3% - 13.0%

Toronto 10.6% - 11.4%
Dallas 10.7% - 11.1%
Edmonton 11.8% - 12.1%
Carolina 9.2% - 9.0%

Seattle 11.6% - 9.1%
NJ 10.2% - 8.0%

Offense is up, but that's being happening for a while, I think since 2017 or so, took a few years for personnel changes in response to rule enforcement to percolate through the league.

Offense has been trending up, but I predict it'll level off and decline somewhat as the league adjusts the next few years - Red Queen effect - as teams adjusted personnel to take advantage of the rule enforcement changes, they'll then adjust personnel to counter faster, more skilled forwards and mobile D-men.

His story to defect to North America is amazing. He helped open the doors for more eastern Europeans to get to the NHL, but has less fanfare than the Russians who came over around the same time.

Seemed like a really good dude, too.

Friedman said the players in Calgary want a captain next season to act as a buffer between the new coach and the players.

Just in case anyone was wondering why Torts is so adamant about not having a captain, it's so there's no player with the authority to stand up to him when he's acting like an unreasonable :eek::eek::eek:.

I'm pretty sure that's one of the required steps of becoming a dictator/tyrant.
