Remember when Sanheim wouldn't be good because he had a muffin? Apparently he is the hardest shooter in the league by a bit. Only player with more than one 100+ mph shot.

Also goes to show shot velocity isn't all that important.

Also one of the fastest:

Torey Krug robbed us of a Sanheim-Parayko pair.

Also if you needed to be reminded this team can't evaluate talent for shit.

The Site is being super spotty for me. I assume there are a lot of ppl doing exactly this.

Do they break out shots by type?
Slap shots have limited utility, I'd like to see a breakdown on wrist shots by release time, velocity and accuracy.

I will be on this Site for the majority of the afternoon

On a cursory look, it appears to me that the newly public data here is best used as ways to explain some data outliers. Think Brady Tkachuk.

Doesn't look like a gamechanger to me in a broad sense, but I would love to be wrong. It's certainly interesting and fun, so I'd rather enjoy it for what it is than worry about the limitations.

I liked the idea of zone time, how much time a player is spending in a zone. It will, in some ways, remove lessen the impact of corsi. You'll be able to look at how much time someone is spending in the D zone vs the O zone.

But yeah, I haven't fully dove into it just yet.

I don’t expect you’ll find much difference. It’s difficult for sustained zone time to not result in someone trying to shoot. I’m guessing you’ll just more easily identify guys like prime ZAR who end up with excellent defensive shot metrics because they waste so much time along the offensive boards.

Or Colorado's 4th line, that often moved the puck into the opponents zone and then kept it there until a better line switched in. The best defense is not having to do defense.

The Flyers' 3 SHGs have the Dallas Net PP% in the negative. Never seen that before.

Although, if Vegas scored a couple of shorties tomorrow the Flyers would also dip below zero
