He’s not wrong about the playing style. I’ve said it about him that he seemed to get more involved initially in the transition game in his early years here.

No he’s not a PP guy, but he’s a prime example of the piss poor development in Philly. He got gifted a lot of minutes, too much probably - but in terms of extracting skill, or developing a creative part of players games they struggle mightily as an org.

Good for him for asking out.

I just want to make sure we all remember that this is the guy they bent everything around. More than Couturier. More than even Giroux.

Everyone else had to try to play their offside. Kept on PP1 because they didn't think he would handle the demotion well. And now he's complaining about how he was handled.

Kinda hard to blame development for Provorov, he was given every opportunity to grow his game.

This is one case where work ethic lead to an overdraft, he was physically developed at 19, but 8 years later is basically the same player, a solid 2nd pair D-man who could play Robin to the right 1RHD.

Which isn't bad, but more like a #15 pick than #7.
And that makes the trade look pretty solid.
Probably a clubhouse improvement, his blaming everyone but himself had to get old.

McDavid comes off looking bad complaining about the Canucks changing goalies up 8-1.
Turns out Demko had the flu, vomited in his mask.

Maybe McJesus should ask how a team with that much talent got whipped by the Canucks.

He had his best season paired with Niskanen, then looks like shit paired with everyone until York last season.
Which is why I look forward to more York, everyone looked good with him last season.
On the other hand, Provorov couldn't make it work with anyone the last three seasons.

To me, the mark of a top player is that other players play better on your line or defensive pair.
Couts, for example.

Dug this one up for Laine moving to center thread. McCagg is such a bozo.

"I can't honestly recall scouting a forward over 6-4 with a skill set as similar to Mario's as Laine's," says McCagg. "The way he creates space when he has the puck, his hands, his release, his shot, his vision...maybe he's not quite at Mario's level...but he's not that far off. He's a tier above Rick Nash at the same age...and as we know both Nash and Mario were first overall picks. I have a hard time thinking anyone should be drafted ahead of him even if I really like Matthews a lot...I see a future 50-goal NHL scorer, maybe a 60-goal guy. I don't see that same upside with Matthews."

What’s the average ticket price in the lower bowl?
Educated guess, but average price is probably ~$300 CAD per ticket. For premium games like the original six, other Canadian teams (outside of Ottawa and Winnipeg  ), and teams with good travelling fans like the Flyers, prices are a little higher.

You could get tickets behind the net in the lower bowl for about $150 per ticket.

The Provorov failure is absolutely a question of development, just in the opposite direction. The franchise that hangs plaques over their dressing room about putting the team before the individual allowed Provorov to dictate his ice time because they were desperate for a 1D. Good on them to get Niskanen as his most solid partner, which showed that Provorov could excel as a 2D, but this only highlights their inability to find Provorov's right usage and not kowtow to his sulking.

I guess now that he’s gone and people are riled up, I can let this one fly.

The dopey top vs second pair Provorov debate has always missed the forest for the trees. He’s the passenger on a pair. The better the guy opposite him, the higher in the lineup he can play. That’s why he confirms priors. He’ll be everything at some point in time. The wild swings are the meaningful bit, not the individual points of data.
