Playoff chase

5 straight losses for the Sens and without Tkachuk.

Rangers without Fox.

Boston without Macavoy.

24 games left for Detroit with 66 points. I think they need at minimum 26 more points to make it. And with the way they’re playing I think they can.
That will be the key, the entire team needs to keep playing f____g hockey and they have an excellent chance at getting in this year.

The Hockey Gods looked down on us with a toothless grin tonight; Rangers outshot the Leafs 35-17 and yet lost 3-2 in regulation.
A lot of posts hit by both teams, but yeah, the Rags showed up for the home crowd, they are not going to go out on an whimper...the wings just need to keep banking points...a good start would be 2 in the horseshoe tomorrow...

Cant help but be a bit uneasy about the the annual spring skid. got a gut feeling it's coming soon.
Yeah, they will not be able to play lights out all the way, but if you set an internal target of 95 points will get you in, the wings need 29 points in the next 23 games to close out the season. That is a 0.630 P%, the amount the any of the chasers (let's assume BJs are same as wings) will be crazy to make up those points.

The Sens would have to be 0.688 (24 games left) and the Rags 0.717 (23 games left) in P% to catch one of the wings or BJs

A more realistic target unless some teams get real hot , will likely be 92 or 93 points for WC2 (possibly less) this year, so for 92 points, the wings need 26 points in the 23 games or 0.565 P%, which is close to the season avg.

So long as the wings have no prolonged losing streaks (may they be blessed with many loser points on loses) they should be in the race until the end, but on paper, they have an absolutely terrible schedule in March, then it might actually be worse in April.

Their resiliency will be well tested by the end of the season, if they make it to the dance, they will have earned it.

We should have gotten 1 point from those 2 games because we now play the canes and we struggle to beat them. 3 losses in a row might have a very negative impact on the team. Copp is done for the season. How about Rasmussen?

From a 6 point lead in the first wc spot to basically tied again and probably going to be out of it again soon enough.

So stupid. Tired of this team constantly blowing it. On to next year.

Need to add to help the team. The Copp injury really hurt. I know a lot of fans don’t like him but he did a lot of small things that help lead to winning

Wait. So we are in a WC spot and control our own fate because we don't need other teams to lose to maintain our spot, and it's "on to next year?"

And if the Wings make the playoffs this year are you gonna tune out because with 20+ games left and a WC spot in hand, they lost 2 in a row?

And blowing what exactly?
We are not a playoff contender, we are a bubble team WC spot contender. If anything we were blowing it up until Fester was fired. We are exactly where we should be right now, contending for a WC spot.
I just don't understand the fan entitlement to a WC spot, we are not that team yet.

It's not entitlement. It's that the players who belong on the roster long term are good enough to make the playoffs, but the Achilles heel continues to be the plugs that won't be around in a few years.

So long term there's no issue at all. But if the kids are ready enough NOW to make the playoffs, and the only hang-up is upgrading some of the dead weight for some draft picks (that likely won't amount to noticeable help to the rebuild even if Detroit keeps them), what's wrong with wanting the front office to move things forward instead of sitting on their hands for another trade deadline?

Or do you think that 2nd/3rd/4th round picks in 2026 and onward will still provide one or more key pieces?
