Oilers won by filling the net,

Weird.

Yo but what about results after 1 game

My brother in christ, please switch to dark mode.

When I get more interested in NHL, Flyers and there will be less :eek::eek::eek::eek: and authenticbots here, maybe then I’ll be here often enough to do that. Current frequency of authentic f***s (and obvious f***ing trolls) effectively prevents me from that.

But but but authentics told us these grinders are why the Lightning are good
Not "these" grinders, Goodrow - Guorde - Coleman.
They put TB over the top.

TB gave up a lot of assets for one more run, now they're in no man's land, but that's not a bad place to be after 2 SCs and 2 SC finals appearances. Question is whether they try to patch and get lucky or sell some older players and take a step back for a couple seasons.

Vasilevsky and Point put TB over the top, not a 4th line.

Tampa Bay still has a core worth investing in. Kucherov, Point, Stamkos, Hedman, Vasilevskiy, etc. They just need to invest better than the Jeannot trade.

Dont have much to rebuild pipeline though to support that core nor do they have cap room to bring in much.

Will depend on vet FA's chasing chance at cup taking cheap deals and finding gems mid/late in draft or UDFA's to fill in around core.

The TB system is fairly weak at this point already when it comes to young talent and with draft situation it will be difficult for them to rebuild pipeline.

TB picks over next 3 years

2023
Lightning 6th
Lightning 7th
Ducks 7th

2024
Lightning 3rd
Hawks 4th
Lightning 5th
Lightning 6th
Lightning 7th

2025
Lightning 2nd
Lightning 3rd
Lightning 4th
Lightning 5th
Lightning 6th
Lightning 7th

2023 1st = Traded to Hawks
2023 2nd = Traded to Hawks
2023 3rd = Traded to Preds
2023 4th = Traded to Preds
2024 1st = Traded to Hawks (Top 10 protection)
2024 2nd = Traded to Preds
2024 4th = Traded to Sens
2025 1st = Traded to Preds (Top 10 protection)

I am confused on 2024 and 2025 1sts since both have top 10 protection and I would think that is conflict issue potentially (Hawks would get TB 2025 1st if they finish top 10 but that pick technically belongs to Preds with 2025 top 10 protection)

I assume 2024 1st + 2025 1st have additional conditions on how the slide would work. I would guess Preds would slide to 2026 in any scenario that 2024 1st to Hawks slides to 2025

The lightning didn't win because Stamkos, Kucherov, and Point worried too much about trying to score and not enough on playing well in the defensive zone.
Injuries and questionable officiating at times hurt them as well. Losing three games in OT where they were not outplayed is no great defeat. They'll be in the mix again next year. Back fill in a couple of spots ad they'll be fine.

Cupless for 66 years/58 years.
Right, think about how infrequently Flyers fans have had joy in the last 50 years and consider that Leafs fans have had no joy since 1967.

Good chance that ends this year for Toronto, but doesn't change the fact that they have been in the Buffalo/Vancouver tier, and arguably the worst of the bunch, since the original six expansion.
