Underrated goalscoring season is Mogilny dropping 76 goals in 77 games in 92-93 with LaFontaine on the team and basically nobody else. A lot of the great goalscorers were on really good teams and had a lot of teammate support while doing it. Mogilny led the league missing 7 games. Take his goalscoring off Buffalo's roster and they're down with the expansion teams.

My beef with a ton of era-adjusted stuff for comparing peak seasons is that they tend to ignore quality of teammates. I'm flat-out unsure, even skeptical, that Ovechkin owns the greatest peak goalscoring season when you try to adjust for all that, but I am positive he's still the greatest goalscorer ever.

92-93 is also the year Teemu scored a shitton with no help. I probably take both of their seasons that year over several that are typically graded higher.

Unless he is going to catch him in a bear hug like you do in beer league when you're about to run into a guy by mistake, I'm not sure how you could avoid that level of head contact.

I'm all about cleaning up the game as much as possible but at some point there has to be some responsibility of the puck carrier to protect themselves.

Yeah the NHL rules are very ambiguous when it comes to head contact in a check. It basically gives them the ability to pick and choose as the want.

I don’t think the hit was a dirty play naturally, nor do I think it’s illegal by way the rules are written. However, I hold the belief that all head contact should be illegal. If that means this hit gets penalized then so be it.
