I don’t think there is any history of any team firing their coach right after another coach firing to hire that guy.
Vegas did it. Bruce Cassidy was fired by the Bruins in June 2022. Eight days later, Vegas fired Pete DeBoer and hired Cassidy.

That was in the offseason, though.

*****

Vegas actually did it when they hired DeBoer, as well.

DeBoer was fired by the Sharks in December 2019 and Vegas hired him in January 2020 after firing Gerard Gallant...

The Blues kind of pulled this off in 1994. Mike Keenan wasn't fired, but he loopholed himself out of the Rangers job, and the Blues demoted their head coach, Bob Berry, to an assistant position to hire Keenan as HC and GM.
The Ducks did this to hire Bruce Boudreau, firing Randy Carlyle. Boudreau was fired by the Caps 2 days before.

Assuming the basis for the team rankings is the player rankings, there is some wonky stuff in here. Slow work day though, so why not post?

Flyers ranked 15th, previously ranked 9th.
Michkov AA, Luchanko A, Bonk/York as B. Only player listed outside the Core 4 is Zavragin as a B. Most teams above us have 3-4 additional players listed.

Michkov at 7 and that's it for us.

Of note though, Gauthier at 28 (previously 17) and Buium at 19.

So none of Luchanko, York, Drysdale, Foerster or Barkey rate even a B? And Buium is AA? Good deal for Minny....
Let's wait a few months, see how players progress.
Buium was scoring at 1.19 ppg last season, this season 1.08.
Maybe it's a SSS, maybe Denver isn't as good, maybe he's flatlining.

He’s leading the NCAA in defense points. You’re so disingenuous, man. If he had 1 more point in your laughable sample, it’s virtually the same. Flatlining!

*checks prospects thread to see you excited about Luchanko being 17th in OHL points/game*

He's tied with his own teammate in defense points.
Maybe playing for Denver inflates defensive scoring?

Like I pointed out it's way too early to judge the progress of prospects.

You brought it up. No one but you. He’s 18 years old playing in the NCHC as one of the best players in the country and you went out of your way to say his scoring is down.

He had a f***ing hat trick the other night. He's still really good.

NCAA scoring and CHL scoring are different beasts. Once you hit the upper limits, like lead the country in scoring, there isn't going to be much to improve on scoring wise. Lane Hutson led the country in D scoring two seasons ago, led a Hockey East that included Cutter Gauthier in overall scoring at 1.23 PPG and produced at a 1.29 clip the next year even though BU was better that year. And he's one of the smartest, skilled, creative defensemen we've seen at that level.

They play two games a week, half the games total, the games are tighter and lower scoring. You're just not going to see exponential year-over-year scoring growth like you do in the CHL.
