I think it was more CF not wanting to commit to paying real money to a 35 year old wing.
At that point, CF couldn't figure out if he was coming or going.

It made sense not to bring him back if they were starting to rebuild, but it made no sense not trade Risto or to trade for TDA.

Cognitive dissonance at its finest.

Probably because he wasn’t rebuilding and that’s just made up fantasy in your head to absolve shitty decisions.

Of course he wasn't rebuilding, his boss (Scott) was adamant that they weren't rebuilding.
It wasn't until Torts said it the word was even mentioned around the Flyers offices.

This is the 2nd year of Briere's rebuild, his decision to move assets into the 2025 draft (trading #32 for Edmonton's 1st for example) makes it clear they don't expect to seriously compete until 2027 or 2028.

So then he wasn’t trying to figure out if he was coming or going and just made stupid decisions when building a team that was trying to win.

Signing and acquiring bad players when attempting to compete is bad management. Not signing good players is bad management.

Trading that pick has zero to do with when they think they will compete.

Tortorella has also never been rebuilding.

The reason you have to contort the facts so severely to fabricate a rebuild, is that there has never been a rebuild.

I never knew how one could work at site like Eklund’s & then also work for an official team site in the same field.

I’m not saying he partook in it but the dichotomy of Meltzer working for a website who’s main driving force was making up bullshit rumors to driving traffic to the site which sometimes included the team that also employed was always interesting to me.

Ridiculously long delay in the Colorado-Seattle game. An Avalanche goal was overturned due to an offside call but was then reinstated because the puck entered the Kraken zone after a shot from a Kraken player.
