Must be nice.
Meanwhile Briere and Torts want the best culture players on their team.
Must be nice.
OH OH OH!!!! I know!!!!! I know!!!! It's because culture players are harder to find than actual talented players. And it's not that the Flyers don't have talented players, but they don't have enough CULTURE players. They need more guys who can't pass or score, but can listen to the coach and play within his archaic system that suppresses talented players, but rewards mediocre players that can check and do all sorts of dirty work. I'm right, aren't I?Why does he have no rentals?
Amazing what you can do when you know how to draftStopped by this when going to check the Birds thread, and I can shed a little bit of light here...
We have a bunch of prospects we are expecting to come to the NHL over the next few years, namely Unger Sorum and Atamanov at forward and Nikishin and Morrow on defense. Lots of cap space going into this summer, even if we lock in Rants for the $14m people expect we still have about $14m to lock up some depth pieces to round out the roster.
Exaggerated by whom? Certainly not the Flyers. They throw out the word "culture" any chance they get.I think the culture thing is exaggerated.
However, it's clear there's more of a focus on intangibles, especially work ethic and hockey IQ.
I think their experience with Myers and then Tuomaala accelerated this trend.
It never made more sense. At any pointBecause the Flyers have few veterans eligible for UFA.
They extended Seeler and Hathaway b/c it made more sense than trading them for peanuts, then signing other veterans to patch the lineup who might not be as good as fits.
TK and Sanheim are the only other potential veteran trades, and they're on team friendly contracts and young enough to be the veteran core in three years - better than NJ trading a 1st & 2nd and then extending Meier, for example.

There is no possible way to paint this as a Flyers positive.
You contradict yourself
Hall is awful and more of an addition by subtraction. Same as it was for Kuznetsov.50% retention for a 3rd is meh, but the Hawks also traded Hall. That is awful asset management.
4. Star power is very hard to acquire without hitting on a "dart throw" draft pickIt's amazing how some people here will hit us with all these arbitrary timelines or barriers, only for the true contenders in this league to smash them to pieces every single time. Just this single trade blasts though...
You can't blame the Flyers, because:
1. No trades wil happen until after 4 nations. It's basically a de facto roster freeze
2. Trades are hard => a star western conference player on an expiring deal is traded with retention for a young breakout Eastern conference player and a prospect and picks to the retaining team
3. You don't want to break up the locker room
Must be nice.

Intangibles matter, in a sense, they are a talent.Intangibles is the only thing people these days use to excuse management/players when advanced stats and results are exposing them naked. I don't say there's no such thing, Laughton > DeAngelo 10 times out of 10 when it comes to locker-room presence, but when it's your ONLY straw for a franchise struggling for decades, just stop, dude. Stop embarrassing yourself.
Lol rags extended borgen. Looks like they got their own fisto situation going on.

Sanheim will still be 7D.
