If anything it would be the conspiracy that ESPN wants a GOAT winning a championship to help sell the game to non-hockey fans. For Canadian ones. And not even the big ones.

What are they gonna do? Talk about McDavid every day on First Take?If anything it would be the conspiracy that ESPN wants a GOAT winning a championship to help sell the game to non-hockey fans.
Nah, but having a Gretzky-esque player help to pull of an impossible comeback, while breaking records, at least makes the TV deal more savory. What are they gonna do? Talk about McDavid every day on First Take?
Hardcore Canadian hockey fans typically would rather see an American team win over a team that isn't their own.Has the Stanley Cup drought made the Canadian fanbases so petty that they're cheering against the Oilers?
Probably. But nobody knows what that means. Seriously though, they need to fix this as @Angry Hockey Dad said. I get it, but it's a bullshit thing to overturn a goal because of that. There needs to be some language about it leading to a clear advantage or something. And a time limit. If a team scores 20 seconds after a slightly offsides entry, that should be a goal.
I mean, I guess it makes sense. Everybody wants to be the team that ends the drought rather than watch a rival do it.Hardcore Canadian hockey fans typically would rather see an American team win over a team that isn't their own.
Casuals are more slanted towards cheering for any Canadian team to win, even if their team is out.
***this is entirelyn anecdotal.
This is the way. Make it easier to be onside.
Coaches will say anything they have to"There's more pressure tonight on Edmonton."
