Todays expected Hawks line-up against Calgary. I don't think I've ever seen worse line-up than this on the NHL level. This is something...

Donato Reichel Kurashev
Guttman Dickinson Blackwell
Katchouk Entwistle Johnson
Sanford Seney Pitlick

Vlasic Megna
Tinordi Murphy
Korchinski Zaitsev

Baby Schenn has gone 12 games without a point. About time he got on one of his trademark hot streaks. Good thing we play them on 15th.

NAK has 11 points this year.

Cates, Deslauriers, and Hathaway have 12.

You’re manipulating sample size. One player has 26 games and the others have 98 games. How can you even make a fair comparison? And that player only has 26 games because he was waived. Checkmate.

Jeez, Cates has 1 goal and 4 points in 21 games? With a defensive drop? Charlie projecting 45 points and pining for a Couturier RFA contract for him doesn’t look so hot right now. We’re lucky Cates bet on himself. And we’re lucky Chaz won’t be doing the same thing with, say, Tippett.

Obviously you want to see young guys further develop, so Cates’ relative stagnation this season has been a mild disappointment. But you also need players on surplus value contracts in order to compete for Cups. Maybe they can get Cates locked up to one this summer.

They need to start playing him to his strengths and stop trying to shoe horn him into a role he's not suited for.

I pointed this out quite a bit last season, as did other posters, but I never understood that type of projection for Cates. But Charlie wasnt the only one, either. Torts talking about Cates at the beginning of the season, he held the same basic view point. 'What if Catesy steps up and produces more offense'. It's pretty clear this team was counting on Cates to take a step forward offensively this season. I have no idea why... He's never been an offensive player. They knew his offensive production last year stemmed from playing with TK and Farabee. They knew he wasn't going to be playing with those guys again with Couts coming back. Also, every advanced analytical said Cates was not a good individual offensive player. I can't believe that their models didn't say the same thing. It's insane, I don't understand why he wasn't pegged for a statistical regression, other than delusion.

They think offense comes from good hard-working gritty defense. Play the game right and you'll be rewarded. Berube said that when he was here and I strongly doubt that mindset appeared in his brain all on its own.

The more time goes on, the more clear it seems that their whole approach to the sport is broken. It's based wholly on feelings.
