Whoops, totally thought Monahan was still making $6MMTo be fair, Monahan is having a much better season than Laughton. Pacing for 20 goals, 50 points. Still an overpay by Winnipeg, but I don't think Monahan sets the market for Laughton. One thing Laughton has going for him though is an attractive contract.
Monahan is a good stylistic fit for the team but I feel that defense is the biggest issue. Playing above its head imo. Monahan is just… eww.
Good that Chevy is going for it though. Give that core a boost while they are productive.
They didn't need Monahan for that, they have pills for that nowI haven’t kept up. Does Winnipeg need PP help? If so, targeting him makes sense. It’s just the price that’s screwy.
Then why has nobody given them to the Flyers? God knows we don't score enough as is.They didn't need Monahan for that, they have pills for that now

Sounds like best on best at the '26 and '30 Olympics.
This team's idea of weaponizing cap space is retaining half of Hayes' contract for 3 years. That's what you call weaponizing cap space.
2 1sts, a 3rd and Monahan for 1.5 years for future considerations.

I mean, they did weaponize it. Nobody ever told them that weapons are to be used against others, not yourself. This team's idea of weaponizing cap space is retaining half of Hayes' contract for 3 years.
The projections have been all over the place this last monthI think he had them over 50% before the skid.
Still better effort than Keith Yandle’s last year.
The member of the media who exclaimed that Quebec fans want an NHL team seemed to be relaying if not echoing the sentiment. Bettman mentioned about a half dozen US cities though nothing substantial in terms of ownership groups. I interpreted his follow up as to no serious groups from Quebec had a proposal. Cincinnati as one of two WHA cities (also Birmingham) left outside of the 1979 merger. But Omaha is an interesting option if looking for an untapped major sports market, a good college program for starters.
