I see a home coming in 2026-27 as a veteran forward sees a short-term contract with his old team as his best shot at the Cup before he retires.

Feel like that’s a bit of a harsh penalty unless the Senators were not being cooperative or intentionally deceitful.

Considering the league has all this info and it's their job to approve trades based on all of this, I struggle to see how this isn't the NHL's fault.
There’s all kinds of nuance around no trade lists, it’s absolutely insane that a serious major hockey league can’t keep this straight. The agent should know when and when his clients’ no trade lists are and are not valid and it’s not exactly difficult to tell who does or does not have one.

Even on draft day Slaf had to be one of the weakest prospect to ever go #1 (at least within the last decade or so).

If I have to pick the season sample or the tournament sample, always go tournament. Never fails.

I thought he seemed low IQ and played at a bad pace in the couple games I caught. I didn’t think he seemed that impressive for a top 10 guy let alone 1st overall. And his “pro ready” size was viewed as a strength.

This kind of thing is a main, core function of a sports governing body. And they don't even seem to realize they should be embarrassed that they blew this, all this time later. That's somehow worse. And they're punishing a team for their own screwup.

If they'd blown it and had the common sense to realize "wait, this is our purpose" and brushed it under the rug I'd feel better about the league's competence. There has been no introspection or realization. Coming on the heels of the goofy tape dumbness, it seems clear to me that it's time for fresh blood.

This should always be a huge red flag. This says "he big-boyed his way against youngs," which should raise concern about how he will fare in a league where size is a complimentary trait.

He was in Liiga to be fair. But if you’re going to drool over size, then dominance needs to be the expectation. The red flag is production.

The same shit logic was used to believe Lafreniere and Kakko were better prospects than Hughes. And they actually had production.

Well, size does help some players, like Matthew Tkachuk. He wouldn't be the same at 5'10 190.
Same with Couts or Stone.

But as Patrick showed, if you're physically mature at 17-18, of course they can dominate other kids who won't physically mature until 20-21. So it makes projecting these types difficult.
