Not only is this topic beat to death, Ghost since 2017-18 isn't the same player people remember.

A third pair/PP specialist, keeping him wouldn't have changed anything the last few years, except maybe one draft slot or so the last two years. He hasn't been an impact player for a while. Arizona has played better without him (not that he's the reason, but his absence didn't have any effect on the team).

LOLLLLLLL.

As expected, more than what the Blackhawks organization got for covering up sexual assault.

They are going to get DRAGGED for this.

They absolutely should be. Setting aside what should have happened to Chicago, I don't want to turn this into a rehash of that thread, this is at least 65% the league's fault for not establishing themselves as the authority and arbiter of NTC lists. It shouldn't be incumbent on the teams in the first place. This is the league displacing blame for something they should own.

Yes, a rebuilding team needs a 30 year PP specialist making $5M.
Detroit is doing what some here accuse the Flyers are doing, declaring the "rebuild" to be over.
Started a buying spree last season, continued this summer. A Flyer fan's nightmare.
Detroit is 22nd in team xGF%, 26th in CF% so you have to question whether this quick start is sustainable.

defense ES toi: Chariot (32), Seider (22), Petry (36), Walman (27), Ghost (30), Holl (32), Maata (29)

Compher (28) FA, 5yr/$25.5M
DeBrincat (26), T 2024 1st, 4th, Kubalik, 4yr/$31M extension
Copp (29), 4yr/$22M left on contract signed last season
Chariot (32), 4yr/$19M left on contract signed last season
Ghost (30), FA 1yr/$5M
Holl (31), FA 3yr/$10.2M
Kostin (24), FA 2yr/$4M
Matta (29), 2yr/$6M left on contract signed last season
Perron (35), 1yr/$4.75M left on contract signed last season
Petry (35), traded 4th rd pick and Lindstrom D prospect, on the hook for 2yr/$4.7M
Reimer (35), 1yr/$2M

Wow, it was a 1st.

Friedman seemed pretty sure it was going to be a lot less than that.

Sorry for picking his cherry out, but the rebuilding Flyers have a 29 year old 3rd pairing dman making $5.1m for three more years after this one, and he's missed the whole season with a mystery injury.

Petry isn't 3rd in ES TOI, he's actually 7th because he's been healthy scratched 4 out of 10 games.

Back in the real world, Ghost is getting 19:29 a game as a second paring dman for a good Detroit team and has 9 points in 10 games.

Also, the Flyers have the worst PP in the league since he was traded. Maybe a PP specialist could have helped.
#Trash Org.

remember when Ghost wasnt even a NHL level Dman at all according to the #Authentics

Definitely a guy you give up a top 40 pick to move off of.

As we've heard ad nauseum, that's all just water under the bridge.

Petry is 3rd per game, which indicates his usage.
He wasn't a healthy scratch:

Red Wings' Jeff Petry: Dealing with upper-body issue

Rotowire Oct 24, 2023

Petry (upper body) won't be available for Tuesday's game versus the Kraken, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.
Petry is considered day-to-day with the injury. The veteran defender has collected two assists through four contests this season.

Risto was obtained and extended by the previous GM, so he's irrelevant to what Briere is doing.

Yzerman has been the Red Wings' GM since 2019, all these trades and signings are his doing.

Typical example of trying to obscure the issue.

You told us the Flyers were rebuilding while they traded for TDA at a loss and then you defended that move from top to bottom.

I think his being scratched a ton also indicates his usage.

I find it mighty convenient that NOW someone dealing with an injury means they're not healthy scratched. I'm not gonna bring up the other example of that that we've seen countless times but it's just mighty interesting.

Typical example of ignoring or invalidating any context that shows held stances to be ridiculous.

I remember when TOI was presented as a reliable and foolproof indicator of player quality, as coaches (whose decisions also somehow were irrelevant) couldn't be wrong in their assessments.

For the sake of our draft pick, I hope he returns soon.
