That's a big, big hope.

I think he'll start in the AHL and be a later callup. I'm curious to know where Guerin sits with Rossi as he wasn't happy with Rossi earlier in the season. More so, I think Rossi needs more time to acclimate in the AHL. He got bumped down from 1st to 2nd.
big hope that he is good enough with Boldy? they have already shown chemistry. i am not suggesting he will be fiala offensively, just saying when we trade fiala he will need to come onto that line and play well with boldy and whoever else is there. my guess is it goes Boldy - Rossi - Hartman as i hope hartman is not our 1c still next season.

The cap situation is looking like Hartman is either going to be the 1C, or Boldy is going to be playing on an island. Not sure where we get the money to get a better 1C.

So:

Zucc - Jost? - Kap
Boldy - Rossi - Hartman
GREEF
Duhaime - Dewar - Gaudreau

Jost is the odd-player out here. But I can see Boldy - Gaudreau and Jost or a warm body as well there and keep Rossi down in the minors until he makes it an issue.

Reminder that there will be a return for Fiala and it will likely be of pretty high value in some form. Too many question marks at this point to make any definitive statements about next year other than it looks like we will continue to be competitive.

So, if the Wild don't make the playoffs is that a failure? Or a disappointment? If they get swept in the 1st round is that a failure or is that a disappointment? If they lose the 1st round in 7 games? Failure or disappointment?

If they don't make the Playoffs it's a failure and people need to be fired.
A 1st round sweep would be a disappointment.
Game 7s in any round are a crap shoot.

That's how I feel.

Tough sledding ahead, but Minnesota with games in hand, should be the favorites.

It'll probably be something like

Kap-Rossi-Zuccarello
Boldy-Jost-Hartman
Foligno-Eriksson Ek-Greenway
Duhaime-Gaudreau-Dewar
X

Brodin-Dumba
Middleton-Spurgeon
Kulikov-Merrill
Addison

Fleury
Talbot

I don't disagree with your list but we are marching Boldy right into the same spot Fiala has been up until Boldy's arrival. On an island alone.

Boldy will get Rossi. Putting Rossi on the 1st line is setting him up for failure next season.

Yes I know, that's why I'm not a fan of all of these moves that have led to us losing Fiala at the expense of Greenway, Middleton(?), Talbot, whoever else you want to include.

'Tis where I am at as well.
Like I want to be clear that, each move on an individual level is fine. It's all of his moves in their entirety, everyone he's brought in, everyone he's kicked out, that's concerning to me. He's clearly got a type, good locker room guys, guys with a strong work ethic, guys that you want to 'go to war with", shit like that. But at a certain point he's also got to bring in some good hockey players too. He seems largely averse to having a roster with too much skill on it. Guys like Deslauriers, Middleton, Jost, Greenway, etc are all fine players, but they're not going to win you a Cup without talents like Fiala.

what are you talking about? is this not the best offensive team in Wild history currently?

I’ve thought since Fiala got taken to arbitration last year, there’s no amount of money that will get him resigned in Minnesota. He’s highly motivated this year to sign a huge contract somewhere else…..even if the Wild could afford him, I bet he would leave anyway.

I mean, he's an RFA so not that simple

Yes, and none of the guys leading that charge were brought in by Guerin, and Guerin is actively trying to get rid of our second best forward who's 26 years old and scoring at almost a point per game rate.

Okay I stand corrected. But that being said, he was difficult to deal with last time and things went sideways.

I like him and wish they could get him resigned. I’d try and do whatever it takes. I just think if the money was there it’s going to be very difficult to get something done and still have a happy player.

I think we need to consider the possibility that Guerin is the one that's difficult to deal with. Fiala ended up with 5.1M last season when people who have done less with more support have gotten bigger contracts. I can't see him being the difficult one.

I don’t know the options moving forward yet as a lot is going to change, I just hope we find an upgrade over Hartman at 1C

It's because the true second best forward is more important to the team, and on a bargain of a deal...

We're starting to get back on track, and these trades are something to be excited about...getting much need size and other BA's to keep Moose out of the box, all without giving up the farm. Least we're trying.
