24th best.
Make it 25th best now. Might be hard to get past the 26th best though
24th best.
wrong thread but i found you, it was about a rebuild though, meaning you draft what is said to be a potential stud goalie and build from there. trade dubnyk and stalock if possible, play khaki and robson until askarov is ready. its all based on rebuilding though.ok....It seems to me that we have some goalies in the system already. Dubnyk is still under contract for next season....we have Kahkonen at the AHL level maybe stepping up into the NHL for more regular action next year if Dubnyk's play continues to decline...and Jones and Lindberg were just drafted.
Not sure I see the need to use our 1st selection in this draft on another goalie....
EDIT: This post was in response to someone asking about drafting Askarov....wrong thread. My bad.
I guess this is great news for those on the tanker...
Personally I really don't like this negative way of thinking, with almost half a season to go.
I feel sorry for the players.

I haven't listened to the podcast, but going by the tweet Russo's more confirming that Guerin isn't likely to fire Boudreau unless "his guy" becomes available.

I don't know if it's a negative way of thinking.....rather more like a realistic way of thinking. As currently constructed, this team is not equipped to make a run in a playoffs. Too many older players on large contracts. It's time to take a step back and rebuild this team through the draft.
I agree that it sucks for the players, but it is what it is.
I'm listening to the segment (around the 45:00 mark). Russo does what he usually does which is mix up his own opinions with "impressions" he has of Guerin and where his mind is. Lapanta calls him on it.Yeah you need to listen to the podcast, Russo and LaPanta basically ran into an argument about this.
haha...LaPanta
I don't know what to believe anymore.
If you listen to the segment even Russo backed off of that direction. Lapanta reliably carries the organization's water but he's right to call him out on that. Every time Russo does this about 3/4 of the fanbase jumps over whatever cliff he just pointed at and then he'll spend the next month walking it back with "just my opinion, blah blah blah."I trust Russo to give a more honest assessment as he is not an employee of the team.
Agreed, but the whole conversation is just them speculating about it the same way we do on here.Though even if Guerin was in “tank mode” it’s not like anyone in the organization would openly admit it, including LaPanta.
The only difference is we look good doing itAgreed, but the whole conversation is just them speculating about it the same way we do on here.

He claims he knows that Guerin "looks at it that way," "it" being a coaching change and "that way" being that he doesn't see a point in making moves that would only serve to hurt the team's lottery odds. But as you heard Russo said he knows this is what Guerin wants to do. I trusted him because he also says he's around the GM all the time.
What LaPanta knows is obviously another story.

In Carolina's case specifically I think it's more likely that he's getting his info from the Canes' side. I think he said as much in the podcast, actually.I haven't listened to the podcast but what Russo says and writes mean two different things, even twitter and the Athletic mean two different things.
However he wrote in the Athletic that Carolina was looking to acquire Brodin. The most likely party to leak this would be the Wild front office to increase the value of Brodin. So it is possible that he is closer to this FO or they are more comfortable leaky info with the new boss. Either way it is possible that what he says is less conjecture than normal.
