In an interview with Russo, Evason said he'll probably start Ek on the top line this season, and he hopes that Rossi can play 2C after a few games.

I couldn't agree more, it's time to play your best center on the top line. In a charity game in Norway back in August a line with Ek, Zucc and Fiala really clicked and played great.

I Have yet to see JEE click with those two, but he should just copy Hartman, and just shoot the puck every time they pass to him. Like Hartman, he's got a good shot, and brings a physical game, with better defense, which will allow the other two to roam free a bit more.

JEE will get in trouble if he tries to copy those two and get too cute.

I would be over the moon about this - it opens up more options for the other 3 lines and doesn't isolate Rossi to Gaudreau/Foligno (I don't think he's ready to be a 1st line guy nor I wasn't sure they were going to break up the hot line of Johansson/JEE/Boldy). Now its more interesting.

That said, this is Evason we are talking about. There is a high chance he'll try it out for 5-8 games, we'll lose 2 games, then he'll revert back to his old ways.

I'm actually pretty happy with Gaudreau being our 3C. He is a better defensive C than rossi, better on FO's, much faster, and stronger. It's not like Rossi will be able to perform much magic with Gaudreau and Foligno as his wingers, anyway. I would rather move Hartman to #3 RW, and have Rossi be #2C, if he's good enough.

I'm still not sure he's better than Walker, myself, but that's another story.
 
If putting Ek on the first line means Rossi is going to be given 15+ games on Boldy's line (and then Hartman if Rossi can't cut it), I'm all for it.
If it means Gaudreau is back on that line, fire Evason.

With the GREEF line broken up it's time to put Ek on the top line so good news there. Maybe he will even prove me wrong and be more of a facilitator with good wings.

I don't think there's a facilitator role open on that line. Kaprizov fills that role and Zuccarello is supposed to fill that role. They need a guy who can find the open spots Kaprizov leaves in his wake and a guy who can win battles in the hard areas since Zuccarello can't.

Regardless, it should still be a good thing that he's moved there, and hopefully it goes better than it has in the past.
 
@AKL Maybe I should post some yt videos where you can see Zuccarello win puck battles in front of the net or along the boards, you don't need to worry about that. Yeah he's 5'8 but 184 lbs, he's still a little pack of dynamite.

I think both Zucc and Kap would love to have Ek as their center guy.

Maybe you should have watched the games last year where he was useless for most of the season.

Yeah I’m sure the charity game will transfer over…

Ek starts in the top line pretty much every year btw

I'm sure Evason watched that game and got some ideas.

Some people think Ek starts as 1C because Hartman may have some health issues, but he was on the ice today, this time it looks like Evason means business.

Boldy...so serious :laugh:

 
Can't help but wonder if Guerin had any conversations with Ottawa about Pinto and how they went.

"Rossi-Foligno line" exists within the phrase "Khaira-Rossi-Foligno line" so it already accounts for that and the "Gaudreau-Rossi-Foligno line"
