Who is the silly source?

Yeah, the Wild are gonna trade their true captain right now....let alone to a divisional rival.
All I could find is a website called "nhltraderumors dot me" which doesn't sound/look particularly trustworthy.

Yep that's it, and it's not reliable or trustworthy at all. They basically just throw stuff at walls and none of it sticks.

Guerin's mad about those NMC's, too?

Seriously, I picture him trying to trade someone, realizing he can't trade anyone because of all of them having trade protection, and getting mad enough to fire O'Hearn.

That or he slept with a member of Bedard's family.

What does Chief Contract Negotiator even mean?

"Mutually agreed to part ways" out of the blue makes me wonder if it was something non-job related that led to this. "Personal reasons" if you will.

Of course this is believable as well.

I think your explanation is more likely, but it's sad that my cartoonish imagery is even slightly believable.

Would anyone else give Zboril a shot? I think I would, at least while Brodin is out. We have the cap space to sit Merrill and Goligoski with replacements if we want now. He wouldn’t necessarily block anyone that way either.

If you ignore the epic first round failure stigma, he was always seen as a steadying player at least, and has broken even in the NHL at least.

Still really early, but I like the idea of 2-year bridge deals for both Rossi and Faber.

Takes them to the same expiring summer as Spurgeon's $7.575 and Hartman's $4, and Foligno's being 1 year later. Also 1 year after Kaprizov's UFA summer so we'll know what we have with that by then.

Rossi will just have turned 26 when the season starts on the first year of the third contract (hypothetically long-term) and Faber will have just turned 25. Means that on 8 year deals, Rossi's "big" contract will be ages 26-33 and Faber's will be 25-32. Even if it means paying a bit more, I still like that timing better.

Some more Wild analysis from Dom in this one, including some Faber tire pumping.

“How good exactly? He currently leads the league in Defensive Rating at plus-3.7. Not rookies — the whole league. He’s on pace to hit plus-11.7 which would be the best mark since 2007-08 for a rookie. If he keeps it up, he’s on track for a top-five season for a rookie defenseman in the analytics era.”
