Bad news for Spurgeon who's put on LTIR, will miss at least four more games.

But with more cap space they called up Khaira, will give Dean some forward choices.
Gaudreau down too.

I like Khaira and think he would make an excellent 4th line option but would have like to seen Beckman call up - a shooter for Rossi. Now, its more likely Maroon-Rossi-Foligno which just feels like an odd match.

What is the difference, to you, between Foligno-Rossi-Gaudreau and Foligno-Rossi-Maroon, and why is one a good fit, and one an odd match, when all things considered, Gaudreau has been extremely underwhelming this season, especially offensively?

Guarantee the Gaudreau injury was a reaggravation of his off season treatment from when Reaves destroyed him in the TO game. Makes sense why he has sucked so much.

Apologize if the following reply sounds snarky but I don't believe I ever suggested the Gaudreau-Rossi-Foligno line is the ideal line. I am simply saying Maroon-Rossi-Foligno is odd, no followup input after that. Two big hulks with mini Rossi.

But if we continue to discuss, I could argue at least Gaudreau has a bit more skill than Maroon. But see below my real position on Rossi.

Ideally, Rossi goes with Johansson-Boldy, and JEE goes on the first (a position I've held for quite some time) but if we accept the reality that Dean isn't going to breakup the first line without a straightjacket, the only options we have is JEE with Maroon/Foligno to make a powerline and Rossi up, or keep JEE on the 2nd and tryout a guy like Beckman, whos a pure shooter, with a pure playmaker like Rossi and see if anything clicks.

2024-25 will be more interesting, if both two lines stay intact, we could see Rossi play with Yurov/Ohgren/Khusnutdinov replacing Gaudreau. Freddy goes onto the 4th line, which make that 4th line quite good as well.

I guess it was the specific call out that Foligno-Rossi-Maroon is now an odd match, that I somewhat inferred to mean the usual line isn't an odd match. Especially since earlier (and even in this post) you insinuated that Rossi-Foligno would stick together into next year. Rossi is the odd part on that line, no matter who the two wingers are (Foligno, Maroon, Gaudreau, it doesn't matter).

I can see that, thanks for clarifying.

Gaudreau is less than ideal. Maroon is odd. This is just semantics area so just have fun here :)

The bolded part is just the reality in my opinion. Dean isn't going to seperate the 1st line until it breaks completely, and once Boldy is back, I expect that Johansson-JEE-Boldy line to be somewhat productive. That leaves Rossi on the 3rd and Foligno is being paid $4mil AAV and Dean sees him as so, coach isn't going to regulate Foligno on 4th line duties, he just too stubborn. So that only leaves Gaudreau. But what I find interesting is that based on his recent poor play, there's a good possibility he'll appear the 3rd man out in Dean's eyes and there might be some flexiblity to experiment on that winger spot.

And I agree, this year, we just don't have good options to match with Rossi that isn't already on our top six. That's why throw in Beckman, throw in Letteri. Maybe even try Johansson if he doesn't click with Boldy. It'll be interesting to watch who clicks bc I don't see alot of lineup movements anyways else, despite what I want.

I found a shocking stat today that proves Middleton is not only a legitimate 1st pairing defender, but better than Brock Faber:

Look at those points! And in fewer minutes. If you notice any blurring anywhere, it probably doesn't mean anything.

Being a fan of this team is certainly some level of hell. Just perpetual frustrating mediocrity. Always losing games they should win and squeezing out just enough to never get better through the draft. Decades of this shit is tough to take

Billy and Deano going for the better draft pick. I get that we're tight for cash, but that doesn't excuse their stupid decisions.

Down over $30MM in cap worth of players, can only squeeze so much out of these stones, small miracle that this team is even .500 right now.

I will say that there are some good general signs, the young players on this team are stepping up their games and looking more and more confident. Rossi, Faber, Duhaime, Dewar, all look to have made significant progress in their games to me.

Our centers have been pretty great this early season, which is extremely refreshing to not have to worry about that position for one year in our team's existence.

But yeah, also lots of disappointing play from some important players. and man do I miss Boldy, he makes this team much more fun to watch.

I don't mean to scare anyone off, but I remember a time where I separated everyone in NHL 96 into Minnesota players and non-Minnesota players. The results were Jon Casey in nets, Mike Modano first line, and Lance Pitlick 3rd line. Pretty much what you'd expect. But the thing was, I hated losing, so I'd try to and play as hard as I could until Lance Pitlick bacame a PPG player. Rasmussen was no longer a 1st round bust. Minnesota was the shit. What is the point I'm trying to make? f*** points, f*** results, just enjoy hockey, and do what you can with it. f*** this Wild, just love them or what they are. Sorry, dinking makes me sentimental.

idk
I'm still pushing for

Kaprizov-JEE-Zuccarello
Johansson-Rossi-Foligno
? - Hartman - Maroon
Duhaime - Dewar - ?

Throw around Lettieri, Walker, Khaira, Beckman in those slots until Boldy gets back. Then put Boldy where Zuccarello/Foligno is, whichever line isn't on fire.
