I could live with Middleton on the bottom pairing I think. But we are missing a significant player in the top 4.Middleton is not good. Spurgeon needs a suitable partner for this team to make a run.

60-65 shots on goal incoming.....Edmonton up next, we are going to get torched, probably our only chance is if they stack McDavid and Draisaitl and we reunite Brodin - Faber with JEE to shadow them. For some reason they do always seem to do this against us, but if they do literally anything else, we will get smashed.
Play possum, is that a thing?60-65 shots on goal incoming.....
Seriously though, that's a game where it may be best to fall over and play dead.
I still think Klingberg could be so good for a #4I could live with Middleton on the bottom pairing I think. But we are missing a significant player in the top 4.
Oh and this is a good reminder that Matt Boldy is one of the best suppression wingers in the league too. His absence cannot be understated.
Well you certainly aren't wrong that the playoffs left you wanting more, but he does have a track record as one of the top xGA% leaders and has received some national and media recognition for it. He has a very good defensive stick and generally drives possessions massively and has been noted for it since his pre-USNTDP days.Based on what? He was terrible in the Playoffs and against FLA. His 5v5 overall stats are average. He doesn't PK.

"The 22-year-old budding star received a fifth-place Selke vote for his defensive play this season. Speaking of that, Boldy wasn't only the Wild's best defensive forward last season, but Evolving-Hockey's defensive goals above replacement rated him as the league's 10th best defensive forward."

How the Wild Secured One Of Hockey's Best Contracts
In the opening minute of The Wolf of Wall Street, infamous white-collar criminal Jordan Belfort recounts, “The year I turned 26, I made 49 million dollars. Which really pissed me off because it was three shy of a million a week.” Perhaps Matt Boldy feels the same about his own $49 million contrac...hockeywilderness.com
This is from before he played with JEE, and playoffs so you are right, that is not as current, but I tend to lean towards him just needing the adjustment time that all young players need. He grades out extremely strong when you consider his age, he really is a complete game beast when he is playing well.
It was a cumulative stat referenced, like gamescore if you are familiar to that, JEE missed more time that season and acquired less overall defensive value. That article loses all credibility when it says Boldy was MN's best defensive FWD when JEE is on the team. Those look like the same cherry picked stats that make Addison the team's best d-man (and player overall). I can use those same stats and say Addison it the team's best d-man this year (lowest xga/60, highest xGF% 5v5).
Getting a random Selkie vote doesn't mean much to me, when in years past the defensive stalwarts of Zucker and Nino picked up a random vote too.
MarJo/JEE have been better (xga, xgf%) without him than with him so far this year. Boldy is missed, for sure, but he's not a defensive stalwart by any means.

Your cherry picked stats are better?
Yeah it’s becoming a concern, we’re 5 games in and have won that xG battle in one game. Which was Montreal. Sure, missing Boldy and Spurgeon hurt but this team is nowhere close. We’re not making the playoffs at this rate. Not even close.Wild currently have the 3rd worst xGF% in the league.
Only Canucks and Sharks are worse.
Perfect. High draft pickYeah it’s becoming a concern, we’re 5 games in and have won that xG battle in one game. Which was Montreal. Sure, missing Boldy and Spurgeon hurt but this team is nowhere close. We’re not making the playoffs at this rate. Not even close.
Not so perfect when you know that the people in charge had no intention of getting that high draft pick.Perfect. High draft pick

Won’t happen. It’ll be like pick 15. Not high enough to be worth a damn and the team not good enough to make the playoffs. Then we will see Chicago or Nashville win the lottery.Perfect. High draft pick
Why does it matter if they aimed to get one or not?Not so perfect when you know that the people in charge had no intention of getting that high draft pick.
If that's the way this season goes, hopefully that ends up being out of their hands. I can want gold, but I can't turn my poop into it.Not so perfect when you know that the people in charge had no intention of getting that high draft pick.
