Name one team who has 15M in cap penalties next year. I'll wait.Name one team that doesn't have a player on a contract that would be viewed as negative value. I'll wait.

Oh, so you agree there are none with what I presented. Good. Glad we're on the same page.Name one team who has 15M in cap penalties next year. I'll wait.
The roster can’t take on a big contract during the off season. During next season, the only limit is accrued cap space. I could try the math later or Jan probably has it ready to go, but it seems likely we can carry a bit of space into next season and start accruing quite a bit early (barring major injuries again.) At the end of the day, Guerin will have significantly more options available to him in less than a year, I doubt he blows his load early here.If you trade Rossi then it's for a talented young winger or Dman. Hard to say who... the roster cannot take on a big. or even middling contract next year.
It's one thing to listen if someone is asking about Rossi, another to be shopping him. I suspect it is the former, and linking up a Rossi trade to the Hartman and Gaudreau signings makes no sense at all to me. Don't compound your mistakes, BG!
I'd be much more comfortable with something like this if we didn't have the buyouts handicapping us through next season. The fact that stars are aligning elsewhere with players like Kaprizov, Ek, Faber and Boldy does make it difficult to balance Now and the Future, though.I would imagine that any acquisitions next year for rentals would come with a high likelihood of re-signing seeing as we have so much cap opening up. Crosby is obviously a big stretch, but a guy like that is probably only moving because of relationships on the receiving team, which we incidentally have.

Trying to come up with a list of guys I would be okay trading Rossi for (not all would make me happy, but I would at least give them a chance):
Lundell: Another center, but at least this one has more size, if that would be the issue. I like Rossi's offensive upside way more, but Lundell could still be an effective middle six guy. Maybe Florida adds a bit?
Necas: a winger who "can play center", but is more of a dynamic offensive guy that could help drive play a little more overtly. That said, doesn't scream Guerin player at all, and comes off to me as a bit of a poor man's Fiala.
Lafreniere: I think he's getting similar usage to Rossi at this point, even strength numbers are slightly better, PP production is the same, basically just converts Rossi into a bigger winger that could play alongside Ek or Yurov or Khusnutdinov if that's who our centers end up being.
Byram: This one is iffy for me because of his injury history and his underwhelming play this year, but if it works out he could be the new top pairing LD aside Faber and you'd only have to worry about bottom four defensemen after that.
Would welcome any other suggestions, but I purposely avoided 1st+prospect packages because there are too many prospects out there to name. Tried sticking to other young NHL players with upside that might work for both teams.
I think 57 is saying that we aren’t a normal team because we already are paying 15M in dead money. We can’t afford to make mistakes like other GMs canOh, so you agree there are none with what I presented. Good. Glad we're on the same page.
Depends on what the trade is. Doing Rossi + for a better player seems like a trade that might be worth pursuing.Trading Rossi in lateral move just seems like an unnecessary risk. I would get throwing him in a package to get a top of the lineup player, but we all know we can afford another one of those right now. Makes the most sense to keep him another year, hope he can improve to a 50ish point center, and then if you really have your panties in a bunch trade him + 1st + prospect for a haul.
It seems likely that Duhaime will be gone, replaced by Khusnutdinov, Goligoski gone and replaced by Chisholm, both moves that give us more cap space. Then that pretty much only leaves 3RD for Bogosian or a replacement. Likely cap neutral to current moment. Add in a $4MM cap bump and unless I am missing someone, it’s seems pretty easy for the Wild to carry space into next year. Roll your supposed healthy roster for two months and all of a sudden that $4MM can fit a $10MM AAV player.
He was on a near 50 point pace before they stuck him with a pair of AHLers. With the vast majority of points coming at even strength. Chances are very good he hits that mark consistently. I’d be more worried about him becoming a 70 point playerTrading Rossi in lateral move just seems like an unnecessary risk. Wouldn't put much into that at his age.I hate trading a young C like Rossi. He’s such a smart player and while he isn’t flashy, he has quick processing ability and can move the puck very efficiently.
Yurov was below 45% on the dot. Still a good chance he is a wing.
Marat & Heidt are awfully small and would face the same issues Rossi did as an undersized C.
Didn't see this posted yet, maybe I missed it
Does anyone know the steps after this? Does he get approved at the meeting? Can he start playing right after? Does March 23rd seem like reasonable guess for his first game?
Not sure about Marat, as i've seen him listed at 5'9" and 5'11", but Heidt is 5'11", and probably still growing. I would guess he will end up somewhere around 6', which will be 3" taller than Rossi.I hate trading a young C like Rossi. If Öhgren plays another year in the SHL I don't think he goes to the AHL.I can.
Next year: CHL/SHL
Year after: AHL
Year after: NHL
I certainly wouldn't move Rossi just to accelerate either of them.

Rossi is built strongly, but he is a small guy, whereas Heidt average'ish, and is known to play with a bit of combativeness.
100% agree that i would hate to trade Rossi, but it's possible that Guerin could swing something for one of OTT or BUF's young prospects, i guess, or maybe even their #1 pick. I would be ok(but not thrilled) with a pick in the 5-10 range for Rossi, even though I like him, and believe that he has the determination to succeed.
NHL has him at 5'11".The KHL had him a 177cm, 80kg; that's 5'8" 177 lbs in US. He's almost 22 so he's probably done growing. For reference Bracco (TOR had him in seemingly every trade for a few years) was on the same team and listed at 180 cm (5'9"), 89kg (196 lbs).

My bad.177cm is 5'9.5"
My bad.
177cm / 2.54 = 69.685 inches.
69.685in /12 = 5.807083 ft.
I forgot to do .8## x 12. It actually is 5'9.685"
