Boldy needs to have that grinder element to his game. He's not a speed deamon and doesn't have a great shot. He needs to be a power FWD to really succeed in the NHL.

Walker needs to add body mass. He's just small. I haven't looked in awhile, but Iowa doesn't seem to get a lot of 5v5 scoring.
Couldn't agree less.

Anyone who has followed Boldy's career thus far should know it is not his shot holding him back. The guy definitely has a + shot. Maybe his willingness to shoot at times, but his shot is very good.

Might as well be, idk why they would kick off Hockey Day Minnesota on a weeknight game against the Flyers.

Right, seems like from a marketing standpoint the timing of it all is a miss. I know they don't influence the schedule but no reason to have the state's hockey celebration represented by a team no one cares to see... actually make that two teams no one really cares to see

HDM is a MN thing, not a thing the NHL cares about. It won't be a marquee game because then it could end up as a national broadcast and there would be no coverage of the local stuff. It's actually a terrible game to watch on BSN if you don't care about the local stuff.

It's not a great selling game for tickets because people do care about the local stuff than BSN covers and/or are are doing hockey things themselves.

For sure, I just look at the schedule and wonder why they don't just make it about the Saturday night game against Buffalo instead of trying to make it something more than what it is. You're right, as an outsider watching it gets to be a lot. But stretching it out to be more than what it is has taken away any shine of it.

He has an average NHL shot and by no means a sniper. You can score a lot of goals without a great shot (Parsie made a career out of it). He has no problem with lack of shooting. He's not going to score bunches of goals just taking 1-timers from the outside. He's going to score on cycle back door goals and high slot tips (Nino).

Kap is one of the best grinders on the team. A lot of his skill plays happen because he does the dirty work too.

Don't agree with this at all. Lots of players have above average shots and aren't considered a sniper. A lot of his goals in the AHL were on 1-timers on the outside. The Iowa powerplay was built around Boldy in the OV spot. He has a great all arsenal of shots.

It's just marketing from the Wild for a no interest Thursday night game. They seem to have cut back on the promotional all fan giveaways for the no interest games. Instead there seem to be more "ticket events" packs.

I'd bet the number of STH has dropped after the COVID years and fans got to just watching the game at home. It used to be hard to get tickets without them being 2nd hand. Now you can probably just walk up to the gate on game day and get tickets (with seats) if you wanted.

He was in Iowa for a very short time. Once at the end of the season and once in an injury recovery. There wasn't anything built around him.

He's been put on the Ovi spot plenty in the NHL and nothing about him shooting from there is dangerous. If it was he'd have at least half a dozen more goals this year.

Boldy just needs to shoot more, unless he is feeding kap. I have little doubt he puts up 40 for us in the future

you can shoot blame everywhere but this team is truly nowhere regardless.
foligno.green.zucc,goose, merrill all super slow and useless
hartman ,dumba could be decent- braindead

addison gets blamed sometimes unfairly when forwards are too slow/lazy to clear D zone. but his lack of size means he needs spurgeon leverage skills/brains- but he's nowhere near that

brodin,kap,ek,boldy.......not much after that. well dewar.,freddy,steel..

better hope pipeline has something.i think better to put ahl guys out there to develop that to have this fantasy of doing anything this year with so many slow useless plugs

In order to shoot, you need to be set up by your linemates. Hartman and Gaudreau aren't known for their playmaking.

Well deserved benching for Hartman, his mental game has been abysmal this entire season, a break to settle down cannot hurt.

My take on Boldy’s shot continues to be that he has all the makings of becoming a top tier shooter, but right now he is not there. Lots of flubs and inaccurate placement, he is not beating goalies from any kind of range. That is completely normal though, developing a shot that hits corners and beats NHL goalies is very largely a matter of years of dedicated practice to develop consistency. He gets to the right spots and shows the quickness and hand eye coordination to get shots off, just not quite at the top level of execution needed to beat the best goalies in the world. McDavid entered the league with a complete muffin and scored all of his goals within 20 feet of the net his first season, look at his shot now. Boldy was a late convert to hockey and had a late growth spurt too lest we forget, it’s a practice able and repeatable skill that simply put, he hasn’t physically been capable of getting enough hours in to be amongst the elite. He is competing against men with decades of practice and has less than 100 games in this league.

Boldy has had a few feeds but mostly on the power play. Hartman is way to desperate for any points whatsoever so he just shoots.

Morning skate news...what is Evason doing now?

-The GREEF line is history!
-Can Foligno help Boldy?
-Hartman is back in

New lines:

Kaprizov - Steel - Zuccarello
Boldy - Gaudreau - Foligno
Greenway - JEEk - Hartman
Duhaime - Dewar - Reaves
Shaw

I guess try the BFF (Boldy/Freddy/Foligno) line since they did have a goal last night.

Not my first choice in line changes, but it's something at least.

You might be onto something here. Maybe Evason just really likes catchy line names and that's why he didn't want to split up GREEF.
