Bring On The Youth

Victor-Hedman.jpg

Mike-Zibanejad.jpg

With the Rebuild in full effect The Montreal Canadiens went after youth in Free Agency and we added some very good players .Victor Hedman and Cowen give us 2 big defensemen on the backend and Nick Leddy and Brandon Smith gives us offense. Cody Hodgson and Mika Zibanejad gives us scoring in the top 6 and Jacob Markstrom gives us goaltender depth. We also added gritty winger Matt Martin for grit and we brought back Captain Saku Koviu to leadership and for him to end his career as a Hab

Offense: 4.5/5, Your first two lines are very good as well as some good depth.
Defense:4/5, First pairing is awesome, I am not too big a Nikitin fan though.
Goaltending:5/5, Its Hank with a pretty good back-up also.

Forwards: 4.5/5 - Great all-around group of forwards. Tons of scoring potential, with a superb, and versatile bottom 6. While I think Duchene/Stastny are both good, I think bringing in a true, top tier center could help put this group over the top.

Defense: 4/5 - A very strong, mobile defense. Brent Seabrook is a rock and brings great leadership and will be a fantastic partner for Johnson. Staal and Kulikov alsopair up nicely. A great defensive guy paired with an offensive wizard. Not a huge fan of the bottom pairing. I would try and bring in a steady defensive guy with some playoff experience to balance out the bottom pair.

Goalies: 4.5/5 - Cam Ward is very under rated despite winning a Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe. He's a top goalie who can bring it in the playoffs.

Overall: A great team that can score, hit, grind and can shut you down. Will definatley be a cup contender. You did a great job with the Avalanche.

Thoughts on the Pens?

My thoughts on these teams. All are great, just being a little harsh so you know what to change. "Team looks good" doesn't give you much to work with.

Avs: Defense and goalie are awesome. If I were you, I would go for a #1C and some better bottom 6 guys, but a very good team.

Rangers: Forwards, top D pairing, and G aren't even fair. I would recomend trying to upgrade your 2nd and 3rd pairing, but I'm grasping at straws.

Pens: Dirty. Just dirty. If anything, maybe try to upgrade Fluery or get one more scoring forrward to bump Teemu to line 3, but that's a great, great team.

This is a top team for me.

Forwards - 5/5 - You could stick pylons with Crosby and Malkin and have success, as we have seen in the past. Kane and Selanne are great adds....very good depth too. Though JVR is a bit out of place....

Defense - 5/5 - Aside from Gardiner playing above Pitkanen...I have no issue with the pairings, they are deadly.

Goalie- 3.5/5 - Fleury is sketchy, but is still a legit starter. IF 3 is average, Fleury is slightly above average.

Forwards: 5/5. Incredible forward depth. No other way of really describing it. Lots of top end talent.

Defense: 4/5. Really strong group with good puck movers. OEL is a stud. The only real thing lacking is a physical/intimidating presence.

Goalies: 4/5. Lehtonen has played really well in Dallas and is a top-15 goalie in my opinion. Injuries will always be a concern but as they aren't really a factor in these games. Lehner is a good goalie who will be a starter in a few seasons.

Offense: 4.5/5. In a word, dynamic. One of the most skilled group of forwards in the league. This team will score goals by the boat load. Your power play will also likely be one of the best with this group and your offensive D. Lacks a little bit of grit outside of Clarkson, that's the only real point of improvement that I think you can make.

Defense: 4/5. Probably the best offensive group in the league. It would be fun watching the transition play of this team. Streit/Boyle would put up some serious offensive numbers and they are both under rated defensively. I think you would benefit adding a good shut down guy.

Goalies: 4/5. I have always had a soft spot for Hiller. The Oilers haven't had a good goalie since Dwayne Roloson's playoff run. So good job getting a major upgrade.

NYI: I like the firepower, but there is not a single defensive forward on your roster, and your D is decidedly offensive as well. I would try to acquire a few great two way guys. But I do love the offensive skill

I am assuming you mean the Oilers.

I kind of agree. But I would consider Zetterberg, Clarkson, Nugent-Hopkins two-way players...Jones and Smyth are decent PKers as well...and Smyth led the team for takeaways....so he has some defensive ability....just not on the rush.
