More. PPG player the last three years, top 10 league scoring this year.
Its going to start with a 9

He might ask for that but he is unlikely to get term of 6 or 7 years at 9+.

People nneeed to look at this page and maybe study the Cap a bit.

Sure he could go to a team like Phoenix who have the cap space but would Miller really do it just for the money and fade away?

So few teams have the space for $9 million X 6 or 7 years for a n older UFA.

Would be nice to see Yzerman trading Miller 3rd time.

Hronek+Zadina maybe to the Canucks?

Red Wings will need a Center.

Yeah, I agree, definitely Necas++ is a ridiculous ask for 1 year of Miller

They’re not going to extend a 30yr old Miller for 7-8yrs at likely over $8M with Aho, Teravainen, Jarvis coming up over the next 2 years. Give that head a shake.

My point stands. The Canes are not a trading partner here for 1yr of Miller.

Dubas laughs and hangs up. Not giving up our top prospect and rookie RHD for one year of Miller

I totally get your position, because of the Canes obligations.........reasonable

But it does give me a point to come in and say to the rest of HFB that "IF" your team was to trade for Miller, I am sure that the Canucks would allow conversations with Miller's agent, first......that is pretty much standard practice on this type of player. I fault no team, for offering less if he is just coming as a 1 year wonder.

I do, however want to compare Zibanejad and Miller, as they are similar in age, size, and points the last 3 years.
Zib signed his 8 year contract 1 year ago, and the Rangers are good with that. So I would think that a 7 year deal with Miller for the same numbers, tat has the contract expire the same year as Zibanejad's is fair, and would be accepted by most inquiring GM's.

As matter of Fact Miller out scored Zib this year and in the past 3 years......217 to 206 and 99 to 81 this year

If Zib is good for 8 years......Miller should be good for 7 years........

Hopefully, people do not look at these as hard demands and could discuss them for their teams, respectfully......

I can't see the Kings even remotely interested in Miller. He is the wrong age and wrong position.

If any trade, roster players have to go back. I also take out Garland since he has 0 value to us.

Kopitar, Iafallo, Spence for Miller, 1st

This is the most i can do

I legitimately believe the league would veto that trade and begin an investigation into Canucks management if that trade was presented

Boston far and away is the most logical landing spot for Miller. An early exit coupled with a soon retiring Bergeron leaves them in dire need of an all situations #1C. Miller fits the bill better than any available player.

Boston will have the cap space and desire to trade for an extended Miller. As his contract fits perfectly with their competitive window. Miller keeps them in cup contention for the next 4-5 years. Some other smart moves and Boston could bring home another cup with Miller manning the 1C spot.

And most importantly to us Canucks fans, Boston will need to beat out all the teams offering up rental packages for Miller. Which, given we can eat half his salary leaving him at a paltry $2.65m for the year, would mean almost every contending team would be willing to move some cap and make an offer on Miller to put them over the top. All of the top teams.

So Boston needs to outbid the contending team bidding war. And they have the assets to do it. Some very enticing pieces from Boston.
This is the trade I think is gonna happen.

Brandon Carlo
Fabian Lysell
2023 1st

This is an absolutely monster package from Boston. The real sticking point is the 2023 1st. Boston isn’t gonna wanna part with that, but they don’t have a 2nd in 2023. And without the pick, they just aren’t gonna land Miller.

Without that 1st in 2023, Boston doesn’t get their guy. So I see them caving.

Carlo is a younger, better Tanev. Right age. He is what the Canucks need. A partner for Hughes. That’s their top pairing for the next decade. He’s also more valuable to Vancouver than to Boston. Boston is just losing a shutdown D who doesn’t provide a ton of offence or transition. That’s the kind of production you can replace with cheap veterans or FA signings. Vancouver gets Hughes his career partner.

Lysell is a speedy 1st round draft pick who is trending very very well. He was the fastest and arguably best skater in his entire draft year. Rutherford said he wanted some speed, well here you go. Only knock is he doesn’t have the size or the sandpaper Rutherford wants to go along with the speed.

2023 1st. This is ideal. 2022 is a terrible draft class according to the experts. Who universally agree that 2023 is miles better. This pick goes a long way to restocking Vancouver’s barren cupboards. Something we badly needs.

It’s a perfect trade for both teams. Boston will be very unhappy about losing 1st rounders consecutive years, but when you’re chasing a cup sometimes you need to be bold. They are way too good to rebuild, and there’s just no realistic way to replace Bergeron. Miller is a godsend for them.

It just makes too much sense. At least to me. Maybe Vancouver needs to add a + to Miller to get it done, but that’s the deal I see happening.

The thing to remember is that the Canucks would likely grant teams to talk with Miller ahead of any trade to work out an extension that would be signed after the trade. That would mean that the trade offer from teams would not be representative as a rental but for a player with term. Teams that are in cap difficulty or have other stars who are due for an increase would unlikely be good partners for the Canucks. The only team that could have interest with cap difficulty is Florida who might want to have one last push before Huberdeau comes off his sweetheart deal.

I could certainly see Boston being interested with Bergeron retiring.

not true but keep telling yourself that
Ok. What do they have that will get A 50% retained Miller realistically? Going to trade all picks for the next 3 years?

Most teams will want to speak with him to extend before trade which will raise the price and also basically price Leafs out as he will only be rental for him.

well they do they their next 3 1st round npicks

they haven't moved a single prospect in 2 years

the idea that they don't have the assets is just not true
They don't, not realistically The prospects they have are all garbage taken with later rounds since they trade their firsts every year. They might have the worst prospect pool in the NHL

To Columbus: Miller @ 50%

To Vancouver: Braden Schneider, Will Cuylle, 2022 1st

Your clueless about the leafs prospects if you think they are the worst league wide. Speaking so confidently and arrogantly while at the same time being so ignorant is quite the accomplishment.

One thing I will say is that I wish the Canucks blew assets on a last piece in 2011, even if it was just for one season.

Don't need to try and compete every year, just need to go all-in and get it once.
