Mike Richards VIII Kings vs NHLPA

Or Kings get hit with full cap and have to buy him out next off season
Or they don't go to arbitration and work out a deal that limits the risk of losing for both sides.
Why has the hearing not happened? Maybe they are working on a deal.

Working on a deal might make sense. It's a wait and see game right now.

I think the fact that MR is completely silent will work against him in the long run.

Why wouldn't be be out in front of this? At least giving an interview to say that he's working out /skating, that he wants to play hockey, that he gives a ****.

The fact that he seems to just be content in hiding is making it more and more clear to me that this guy has completely given up. So sad.

I'm in agreement. I know if I was pushed out the door by my employer who owed me 15 million bucks i'd be stating my case. That said he has a lawyer and I'm sure the attorney has told him to keep his mouth shut cause some of these athletes aren't that bright and say stupid stuff when the mic is in their face. The curious thing to me is pretty much since the start we have been told it's a lot bigger than we've been told yet nothing has come out. It's like Richards is a high ranking politician and knows people who can hid and pull strings. I've never seen an athlete protected with this sort of secrecy-ever!

I think the issue is ICE. As we saw with Voynov, Immigration and Customs Enforcement will have a say in the matter.

And their say takes precedence over the CBA.

I think his lawyer probably told him not to comment. It's the smart thing to do, and besides, when did he ever talk to the media? He hated doing it in Philly and didn't have to talk much in LA since others were the go-to guys after games.

We really needs a Mod only News only Mike Richards thread every time I see that there is a new post I hope that its the verdict lol

Bob Mckenzie reporting no date has even been set yet for Richards grievance. And, seems surprised how there is absolutely no info.

A hearing would be a mute point until immigration has had its say. NHLPA would have egg on its face if they stop the termination only to have US customs say he can't come into the country.

Let's please try to avoid bumping this thread unless there's actual news...people keep getting anxious about it

Okay, that's insane. This is one of the weirdest situations I've ever seen.

Oh wait, I mean the Kings are horrible, how could they do this*

*will someone please tell everyone what "this" is?

Interesting story about the first time I saw FNM in concert.

They were opening for Metallica. I believe the year was 1989 or 1990, can't remember which, but it was before "Epic" was released. That was their first song, and everyone booed like crazy when they started it out as a rap song. The booing continued until after the second verse of rap and when the heavy metal chords came in, and then there were cheers. Then more boos when more rap came in. It was comical. Finally, both Metallica guitarists joined FNM on stage and everyone cheered; they all finished the song together.

After a few months with "Epic" rising on the charts, no one booed them anymore in concert.

Wait, we aren't going to retire #10?

I feel the same way about this thread now as Ron and Bandit felt during the season.

I'm tempted to just hit the "x", it's depressing thinking about the last couple of years Mike Richards, and it sucks even more knowing it may not be over.

But you invested so much, don't give up now when were so near the end! :)

I agree, it sucks. Sucks that Mike has fallen this hard, sucks that it's not resolved. It's a damn shame.

It just sucks that we don't even know more about Mike Richards as a person right now, too. He's going to have a hell of a book someday. Hope he can get his life in order, even if it enters a post-hockey phase sooner rather than later.

No matter what happened, this all has to be a hard pill for DL to swallow, especially with Richards being his favorite player next to like Mike Ricci. THat's what made everything so extra shocking to me. We're probably seeing DL enter a post-emotions phase, heh. Cyborg/terminator dean lombardi.
