Kitchener Rangers 2024-25 Season Thread, Part III

Totally forgot they played last night. Ooof. Another game where the other team plays their backup. It never really pays off, however Niagara was in an iffy spot with a bad showing the night before too.

Can't say I ever thought this team would have been the 2nd team clinched this year. Great season.

Brown says Elly is practicing with the no-contact orange jersey on. Whatever that upper body injury is, they're not taking any chances of putting back in too early. I say don't rush it and have him ready with a few games before playoffs.
When you say, "Have him ready with a few games before the playoffs", you are, in fact, rushing him. If I recall correctly, that was the plan for Connor Hall, and that did not end well. The body needs to heal and if it takes until the end of July, so be it. We need Ellinas healthy next year as well.

Question for you Kitchener fans.

Gens fan here thinking of taking the trip Tuesday. What side in this picture do Kitchener defend twice?

Thanks in advance

I'm not rushing anyone, Geo. When he's ready, he's ready.....and maybe he will be ready for playoffs. Unless you have insider info on his injury...

Sorry, Blue, please don't take it personally. But we can't set goals like having someone ready for the playoffs. That is everyone's wish but that kind of thinking doesn't help the player. I mentioned Connor Hall as an example, but more recently, it was Mitchell Martin. He probably should have taken the rest of the year off.

Geo that is a great point on Mitchell Martin. The coach played him when he probably shouldn't have. If the opposition knows an impact player has a specific injury they will target that injury every time the player is on the ice. Best to get it 100% healthy before throwing him back into the fire. On a side note Cam Allen was arrested for a DUI after 3 AM. Do teams not have a curfew anymore where the coaches call in an check on players or is that a thing of the past?

I remember back in the 80's, we used to see the Ranger players out in the bars all the time. I heard even back then, it was sort of loosy goosy as to if and how often I called. I imagine nowadays, you would need a 3rd party to vouch for them given the advent of smart phones. Or maybe the coaches demand a video conference?

Though I do recall one particular night, Al McInnis popped into a local bar and let his bro know that it was time to pack it in. Al was by the book which is the makings of a HOF'er.

I would assume most if not all teams still have curfews which are enforced by phone calls and/or billets. (Thankfully I caught autocorrect which wanted billets changed to "bullets" 😀, I suspect bullets would really enforce the curfews). I suspect Cam Allen isn't alone in this matter, not many 20 yr olds in a new town go out till 3am and drink or smoke alone. I'm sure this behaviour somehow goes on with every team regardless on league or organization. Didnt the Rangers have similar issues about 10 or 15 yrs ago??
