Speaks to Reilly's decision not to sign with the BJ's , GM Jarmo Kekalainen said they gave it their best shot , but Reilly has narrowed his choices to 2 or 3 teams and the Jackets weren't one of them. He said they will move on in another direction. They tried for the last 2 years to sign him, it's got to be a bit frustrating when you draft a player and watch him grow and pencil him in as part of the future of ayoung team, on the rise and he says' Sorry, I'm signing elsewhere" But that's his right under the CBA

RYan Johansen was less than diplomatic

I got some bonus ideas for him

"$1m if he falls down more than Brown"
"$500k if he shoots wide more than Stoll"
"$2m if he loses his man more than Richards"
"$800k if he shoots into the goalies logo more than Lewis"

Our money is safe.

Hockey Central has repeated its claims that Chicago has the inside track, but that Reilly is still listening to Los Angeles.

FWIW.

I read "$500k if he shoots up more than Stoll".....

Long shot.

But if Lombardi lands Reilly, I think A-Mart is gone. A-Mart is just making too much money for what he brought last season. I would speculate, Lombardi signed that A-Mart deal thinking the Cap would go up more, and that A-Mart could handle a 2nd pairing role.

None of that has transpired so far, sadly.

Where would you rather spend your winter, Chicago and a -10 degrees or Manhattan Beach and 65 degrees?

How much for getting his shot blocked like Doughty?

He's trying to determine if he wants to go to a team that is known for developing dmen or go to a great team where he will likely get to play sooner.

Well if the Kings do land this guy his contract would probably be how Kevin Hayes and Justin Shultz contract are/were

Kevin Hayes=2014-15 $900,000 $67,500 $2,850,000 $90,000

Justin Schultz=2012-13 $925,000 $70,000 $2,850,000 $92,500

AVV for both= $3.775 mil

Cap Hit: $900K For Hayes & $925K for Schultz

Mehh, screw Johansen. While I don't agree with it either, Reilly has every right under the CBA to do as he did and may there is a real reason for him not wanting to go to Columbus. Don't hate the player, hate the CBA Johansen.

Long shot.

I don't see it. I think they are likely to pencil in Forbort onto the top 6 next year already, now trading away A-Mart to give a college kid a spot on top of that?

I assume DL's pitch to him is he should expect to start the season in minors considering he doesn't have any pro experience. If that puts us out of the picture, so be it.

There is absolutely zero chance Lombardi is pitching starting in the minors, because the Kings would have been eliminated already.

So Dean didn't go with this pitch?

"I want to put you in the minors for the next three seasons and if you prove yourself there, then I'll let you come up and get your cup of coffee. Then I'll send you back down just to see how you react and if you keep your head down, work hard and shove it up my ass, I'll call you back up. Just don't pull a Vey."

From Reilly's point of view (not mine) I don't see why he would choose Los Angeles over Chicago. The Kings missed the playoffs last season, while Chicago just won the cup. Reilly is guaranteed to immediately enter Chicago's lineup, considering their cap issues and the lack of a solid bottom pairing, while the Kings defense is up in the air (whether Sekera signs, Voynov is cleared of charges, Martinez is traded or not). Its a no brainer for him unless he has a compelling desire to live by the beach.

Likely more believeable than the "yeah, I'll trade away Alec Martinez so we can slide you right into our top six for sure without ever seeing you play one shift of pro hockey" sales pitch.

Wtf do you guys think, that DL is just going to offer to ink his name into the roster for 2015-2016? I'm sure Sutter and the entire coaching staff is two thumbs-upping that for sure, not to mention better prospects than Reilly Smith have had to wait their turn.

Kid will have to earn a spot, period. If he wants to here that he's guaranteed anything other than a legit shot in camp, he can pack his bags to Chicago or Minny or wherever.

This is when you gotta use history to your advantage

2012 LA
2013 Chicago
2014 LA
2015 Chicago
2016

DL be like: "Look Mike do you want to win a cup as a rookie or have to wait until your sophomore season?"

Why are the Wild interested in him now? Wouldn't they prefer another team to mold him into a solid player and then pick him up in free agency? Instead, they should be sending hot Minny girls to his door so they can lock him up and then complain that they want to move back to their home state in four years.

Because someone said "UFA" so the Wild's NSA-grade phone screener picked up the words 'free agent'.

They're the Toronto of the USA.
