Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XV

If a team is willing to pay a reasonable price for Korpisalo at the deadline (whatever that may be), can't they trade Korpisalo, get an small asset and cap space, see how Dipietro does the remainder of the season, and then figure out the back-up goalie in the off-season?

Korpi’s deal carries negative value and it has for the Bruins the moment they acquired him. The question isn’t what they would get back, but rather, just how much would they have to give up to get out from under it. 3 years and change at $3M per for a guy who performed worst in the league last year and has performed as an average backup this season. National media was dumbfounded at this acquisition and Sens fans couldn’t believe the Bruins took this problem off their team’s hands. Might be able to move him when there is one year left.

Possibly but you never know with goalies. What the Sens fans and the national media think really doesn't matter. I agree the potential of them trading him is remote but you'll have teams chasing the cap floor and 3 million per isn't what it used to be. He's 37-35-7 since leaving Columbus two years ago, there are worse options out there. He's an experienced serviceable back-up.

How do you guys not understand @DKH sarcasm yet lol
I’m was debating between a retooling of my personality as opposed to a blowing it up and starting from scratch more serious (less humor).

The retool seems the way to go though - I can want Sweeney fired and all players traded and keep the immaturity and sarcasm seems easier and keeps me the number 1 poster here in 99% of the members (sarcasm)

Getting Hampus back will be just like a trade. It will be our own internal trade*

The Boston Bruins announce they just traded for a defenseman recovering from a shattered kneecap sustained earlier this season. The defenseman is skating with the team and team doctors have stated that they really hope pain management will be tolerable and that structurally the knee will hold up. Team states that experience with the largely unsuccessful effort with Kevan Miller taught the team a lot and they really really hope this one goes better.

Fans would be pumped. Just absolutely pumped about that trade.

Nothing was made up!

I used him as an example as a number one center I’d trade Swayman for, never said it was ever rumored.

So who’s making shit up now??
It was just a discussion as far as I am concerned, I certainly did not think it to happen, but I think 22 park, does not like any talk about Swayman, being dealt real or not, he should get over it, or not get in the talk, or even read it.

I have really enjoyed reading you for the last 22 years @DKH. Thank you for giving us all (well, the 99% 😅) so many laughs. You helped me over the years to look at the positive side of everything, which has been very helpful in my life. Looking at the current Bruins situation, it seems I will need it in the next few months or years!

Sorry but ADB was thought to be riding the coattails of McDavid but proceeded to have another 100 point season with Erie w\o him. He was thought to be too small
by some scouts but was still taken in first third of R2.

Trent Frederic has value, but no where near DeBrincat whom I have seen a ton of since I live in Metro Detroit. Sweeney is paid literally millions a year not to **** up 1st Round picks like he did and he gets no mulligans regarding 2015 because of Pastrnak, who just finished a rookie year where you still didn't know what he was.

Almost everyone on this board draft night 2015 was max pissed about what transpired.

Like I said worst drafting of those 3 spots in almost 20 years, yeah generational bad drafting.
I thought we weren’t allowed to bring up 2015? But yeah good drafting can help maintain a solid playoff core to give that realistic chance of making a run. They have no shot of winning the cup, the sooner people see that and stop saying “you just want them to be Buffalo with a never ending rebuild” the better off we’ll all be. Rip off the bandaid and just move on.

I would like to see something like this before the deadline:

Marchand to Washington for 1st and andrew cristall

Freddy to NJ for a 2nd and adam Beckman

Coyle and brazeau to islanders for a 1st
Replace barzal

Buffalo is going on 14 years

Bruins fans can probably handle 5-7 and even though many will leave a lot will come back when they are good

Be nice to get in top 2-3 and get a shot at McKenna
McKenna sweepstakes's is where this team needs to go.

All sell deals should be directed at 2026 first. Scoreboard watching for teams to lose is fun, when a player like McKenna is the prize.

I think if Marchand DECIDES he wants to go play in the playoffs somewhere, you make that deal.

But I'm starting to come around to the idea of trading Carlo and Coyle and really going for it here. Then I'd love to offer Rantanen a max contract.

Sounds like the same type of excuses that were made for Zach Senyshyn when he was drafted.

Teddy Stiga is slightly younger than Letourneau, also a 1st year NCAA player who was drafted last year in the 2nd round and he's 4th in team scoring at BC.

I'm not saying Letourneau is a bust but I don't see how him having zero goals and just 2 points isn't cause for concern, even if he's getting 4th line minutes at BC.
Letourneau for the first time this year showed a pulse in the opening round game of the Beanpot. The fact it took him so long to play well is certainly concerning. Teddy Stiga has been much better than Letourneau this year and Will Vote who went undrafted two years in a row has played better than Letourneau. Letourneau should start being a lot more than he as been down the stretch here for BC. Biggest issue I see so far is lack if intensity with him. Reminding me of Joe Colborne.

Be focusing on him tonight in the Finals against BU. Interesting to see how he compares to Lachance.

I can see Sweeney saying exactly that if Hamphus comes back without a hitch, or if Hamphus has a set back, he places him on LTIR and gives up more assets, only not to make the playoffs Hopefully Hamphus has a healthy return for more reasons than one !

Buy out, buy out, buy out.

Chant it with me, people.

It'd last halfway to the heat death of the universe, but the dollar value is manageable, especially for what looks to be a non-competitive team going forward.
Can't stand the word retool. Retool from mediocre to less mediocre? Team needs a face lift.
I was thinking about this the other day. Retools are rebuilds that actually work on less than two digit timeframes.

We were warned when he was drafted last year that the jump from St. Andrew's prep to the NCAA might be a big jump for him and it would take time to adjust, almost like skipping a step along the way. It was suggested he'd be better off this season in the USHL getting more responsibility.

What I like about Letourneau is how coordinated he seems on his skates for such a tall player. Doesn't look awkward at all, much better skater than say a Brazeau who has those long swooping strides.

There are so many 21 and 22 year olds on the Boston College roster. There are THREE 18 year olds.

Let's relax a little there. Literal kid just got to college for the first time, and he's probably not even done growing. I'll be interested in how he's skating end of next year.

Now that said, Teddy Stiga pretty impressive.

Marchand, I agree even if he does not decide, not his call. Carlo and Coyle, even I have reached a point except for Pasta, everyone is available. Rantanen, I am all in. Rebuilds take too long, I am against that, and they are no fun.

So u think they meant to take 14 years? Or maybe they were thinking just like you. Just a hand full of top 10 picks is all they thought they needed. Trying to lose to win barely ever works. It only worked for Edmonton because they won a draft lottery during the year mcjesus was available. The odds of this happening are very slim. And let’s not forget how long Edmonton was bad for before they got lucky.

That is the problem with college hockey, you need to be in most cases a 20- 21-year-old freshman, to be able play the sport. I think it has kind of lost its purpose to what it should be.

I know its late but when Sweeney was on TNT, he mentioned "injury" twice. Without being asked about it.
He is totally using it as an excuse for this year. And im sure the brain trust Jacobs/Neely are eating it hook/line/sinker.

I didn't get that impression at all.

And to give the impression that Jacobs/Neely are dolts that don't see what their team really is, is just dumb.
