Would do Matheson for Desharnais + 1st + 3rd/4th
What are you adding to take 2cyears of Deshsrnais? The guy is an overpaid 6/7 D. Allvin screwed up with that signing, Montreal isn't handing him a get out of cap jail free card without compensation

Do you think you won't remember it in the future? Memory is fleeting, after all. To add to that, the human memory is faulty, on it's best days.

Also Petterson got concussed pretty hard there. He probably doesn't remember much of what happened that day.

Rutherford traded for him before, wouldn't surrprise me if he did again. Matheson needs out of Montreal, the dog and one trick pony show.

So from MTL's dog and pony to Vancouver's circus act? So who do you think Matheson is gonna side with? Miller or Petterson? You have to choose right? before you step in the locker area?

He seems like the fall guy, which is what any local player becomes if he struggles. Which is why quality homegrown talent seems more rarified than any other time in history.

How to become a contender is probably a topic of intense debate in Montreal.

What are you on about? Matheson ain't the whipping boy. If anything the local media were crapping on Dach and Caufield. However Dach's coming back from a major injury and he just had a 2 goal game. Caufield's not scoring as much but he is getting assists. Last season they were throwing rocks at Anderson and Gallagher and now they're both doing much better this season. They've given up on hating Primeau and Dvorak. They know they suck, management knows they suck but their contracts are up this year so whatevs.

I know you guys think that MTL fans are close to marching up and down Ste-Catherine street and calling for heads but not at all. The fans love watching Hutson play and improve daily, heck Heineman is doing pretty solid as a rookie too. There's a reason our AHL team arena is packed. The people can see our prospects doing well.

...he's probably playing too many minutes right now and an injury was probably inevitable.

Yeah the last thing Hughes needs is help. When he gets back they should just have him averaging 29min per night.

My bad. Teams are probably lining for a smaller player who has 2 goals on the season.

No it's because he had 24 goals at ES last year, pretty sure GM's aren't dumb enough to use this year and this year only as a basis for value.......

Just ignore the fact that he scored those goals on a completely unrepeatable 20% shooting percentage. His play this year proves last year was a total outlier. They should have traded last year when his value was artificially high. Instead they gave him a contract that takes him close to the negative value realm
Yah he's shown value since his rookie, season, if you watched him you'd know.

Not saying he's a superstar but he has value.

Montreal has zero defensemen that interest the Canucks. Sorry.
For the price fanboys on here will ask sure, but in general that's not true

I don't think.hes as bad as he's shown this season, just like he's nowhere as good as last seasons illusion. The problem.is he's an undersized bottom 6 pjsyer with a contract that was a clear overpay. Yeah, he has skill, but not enough to get a full time top 6 player and hes being paid too much (starting next season) to be a valuable bottom 6 player. There's a reason that he's being thrown into practically every proposal coming from a Canuvks fan. He and Desharnais are a waste of valuable cap space.

Desharnais toughness is not needed in Montreal. We got heavyweight X and 4 more like Desharnais. Struble, Guhle, Anderson and little Pezzetta. Mailman and Little X are sharpening their teeth in the AHL.

Skill wise he doesn't match Struble and he is currently making paper airplanes in the stands.

Your first is one of 2 we have that likely higher picks.

Hoglander is too small and we already have two high end small guys.

It isn't about trading Matheson, it's about Canucks have nothing we really need.
Well if you don't want to trade Mike we'll take Adam Engstrom off your hands before you lose him to waivers, heck I'd even offer Hoglander to you as he is a very good motor agitator who can score.

The Canucks are desperate for D but surely they can do better than Matheson?

I still remember when he body slammed Pettersson as a rookie and gave him a concussion because he was salty that Pettersson dangled him.

I am not a fan of Matteson. But I do like how depending on who is talking--you would think Matheson was a Norris trophy winner

And we still have no use for Montreals’s defensemen. Imagine how bad Montreal’s D must be.

As a fan of both teams, VAN Defense should be better than MTL. However Hronek has been injured and there is a clear lack of puck moving Dman after Hughes. I truly think Matheson on the second pairing would be a great fit for the Canucks.

I don't think he's worth nearly what you're talking about.

Are you serious?

You don't think the Canadiens could get a better offer than Hoglander, a 2nd or a 3rd for Mike Matheson?

You are completely out to lunch.

Why the hell would Vancouver spend that amount of picks for him

That’s insane

By "that amount of picks" you mean... one?

The "offer" was Hoglander plus a second or a third.

See the first page how he said “edit” I overvalued him

It was more in his original offer
