: :handclap: Did anyone witness MacArthur's first couple years ? St. Louis ? Kadri ? All useless I suppose ? It takes time with skill players. Matt Moulson and Micheal Grabner where thrown on the scrap heap and saved, they to were useless :)

Yes I do. Results may not have been there for them either. But they showed something. Hoffman not even an inkling to me that tells me he can play in this league.

Hey, it happens and he won't be the last prospect that just doesn't have it.

I'm actually really interested whether anyone saw St. Louis try out for the sens when he was up here....

My point is give it time, we are to quick to pass judgement. Heck I'm still waiting for greening

I figured this would be the best place to put this, but who would be next in line for a call up

Stone?
Pageau?
JOB :sarcasm:

Use of speed. Big shot. Improved defensive awareness. Meh. Some people see it. Some others don't. Time will tell.

To be fair, he made those comments in Dec prior to Hoffman's second call up. Hoffman would have only had about 7 NHL games in his career at that time.

Nice write up on him over at 6thsens

True, I did, and while he was better the first few games of his latest callup, I still am not sure he can be an NHLer. I am willing to see him start the year but if it doesn't pan out, hopefully they turn the page quickly enough and give someone else a chance.

The kid is ridiculously skilled. Hope him and Stone light it up next year.

Hoffman has tremendous skill. Was the best player in the A last year.

Every league he has played in he has been coveted as the best player.

The only knock on him was size. If he gets more muscle(which he seems to be doing with great intensity this off-season) he will be a top 6 forward. Too much skill, speed and good 2 away ability not to translate. Hopefully he works for it. Reminds me of Grabner.

Where did you hear this?

I agree his size might be a major factor holding him back at the NHL level. It would be a great boon to the team if he could take that next step, our team is way too slow and Hoffman can really fly.

Hes said it in Interviews that he is basically gonna spend the majority of his summer training with the Sens camp so he knows when he gets to dev camp he will be his best self. Gotta love having that in a player, also can't blame him if he has a real summer he might lose out on a potential multi million dollar career.

There was an article in the sun today regarding Hoffman and it mentioned he has spent the summer in ottawa working with Schwartz

He was on the radio and said pretty much the same. They also asked Methot today at the opening of Senshouse about the kids spending the summer working with Schwarz and specifically referenced Hoffman.

I actually noticed that after I made the comment haha. I thought he showed he does have what it takes to put it together during his last callup.

I really like Hoffman. I hope he stays with Zib on a line. They seemed to have good chemistry at the end of the year.

Hoffman-Zib-Michalek could be a cool line. Much speed. So skilled.

Hoffman-Zibanejad-Ryan could be fanastic as well.

The thing about Hoffman though is that his ceiling is 70 point forward but his bust potential is just as high. I don't see a middle ground with him, tbh. He's also already 24 so he has to hit next year with a big stride for him to improve into his mid 20's onward. He knows that and it's good to see he's working his *** off too.

If 2 of Hoffman/Stone/Chiasson/Puempel develop into really good top 6ers we'll be set for the future.

I see top 6 potential in Hoffman, and I think the organization probably sees the same. He's extremely fast, probably the quickest player on the team outside of EK. His speed alone makes him a threat to score. On top of his skating he has a great shot, very quick hands and good vision/playmaking skills. Everything you want in scorer really. I've heard negative remarks about his hockey sense, but I don't really see it.

RKL makes some good points. Guy was a top player in the AHL this year and was a top player in the QMJHL as well. I bet if we give this kid time to adjust he'll be a player for us.
