I’ve yet to hear them explain why they’ll listen to Babcock but didn’t listen when it was Tippett or McLellan. And I guess Woody and Knobby were just nobodies who were telling them to stop playing defence.
As is the case with every coach in the McDavid era, it goes well in the beginning and then quickly fades once they tune out the coach.
Knoblauch had a 16 game winning streak and back to back finals but all of a sudden he was the problem. The problem is the players not executing.
Funnily enough Babcock was hinting at that when he answered what has to change and dropped the Yzerman example.
