Zib is tied with Eichel for 5th in the NHL in points per game for centers. Only Drai, McD, MacKinnon and Malkin have better. Do any of them PK as much as Zibby?

Rhetorical question; none of them do. He’s 26th amongst NHL center in short handed ice time despite the games he missed. He’s 6th among all center in SH time per game.

Drai is the only one in that group who has seen semi significant time on the PK (64 minutes.)

His results have been less than good.

I was worried about how Zibanejad and Panarin would coexist given both of their tendencies to play in that left circle but Zibanejad is actually better not in that spot.

Hell of a game for Mika in what has been a hell of a season. He really does have the ability to lift this team and give them a chance in games.

He's pushed himself into top 15 territory and if he can replicate this type of season he'll solidify himself in that group. He's transformed into a guy where if your a fan of the other team your nervous every time he touches the puck

Now alone in 5th, .01 behind Malkin for 4th in points per game for centers. 8th overall, despite the time missed. Also 24th overall among center in short handed time on ice, 6th in SH time per game. 2nd in SH goals, 4th in SH points. Malkin, Crosby, Bergeron, Mackinnon, Matthews, Eichel, McDavid, etc. have a O-zone shift start between 59-65%, Mika has 47.2%. Pretty f***ing incredible. He’s starting to get recognition as a top center but he’s actually still criminal underrated. He’s one of the absolute best in the league. 32 goals, 65 points in 52 games and significantly less offensive zone starts than ANY other center who has numbers like he does, along with significantly more (and better) PKing.

Next year I want someone else PKing and sharing a lot of these defensive zone starts. Dont need him getting in between slapshots and the goal as frequently as he has been this year.

Ideally your 3 and 4 Cs are splitting the penalty killing duties. Right now that's some combination of Chytil, Howden, and McKegg. They need to sort this out for next year.

Draisaitl leads 3 Stars of the Month for February

Draisaitl, Zibanejad and Pastrnak get the stars of the month. Well deserved for Mika. He tied for first in goals and ranked second in points. The first NYR player since Jaromir Jagr to score consecutive 30 goal seasons.

AND he's really good defensively, which basically none of those he compete with are. AND his contract is a bargain.

Draisaitl and McDavid literally do not play defense. It's going to piss me off so much when Panarin doesn't even top-3 in Hart voting...

Mika has morphed to the point where he's gone from a Top 60-70 overall player in the league before this season started to where next year he'll likely be a top 20 overall player.

When was the last time the Rangers ever have had two top 20 players in the NHL in their entire history? Maybe never...lol

And once Igor truly establishes himself as one of the top 3 goaltenders in the league which seriously could be as soon, I'm convinced, as soon as next year, the Rangers could potentially have 3 of the top 20 players in the entire league.

When was the last time the Rangers have ever had three top 20 players in the NHL in their entire history? Definitely never...lol

They still need a true first pairing. Thinking Niedermeyer / Stevens, Letang / Orpik, Keith - Seabrook, etc.

Maybe they move ADA to LD or trade him for a left-sided defenseman. We’re just skewed too strongly to the right at the moment.

Maybe never? Messier and Leetch won the Hart and Norris in the same season once...

OK duly noted as you got me there as your 1000% right seeing at the time Messier and Leetch were top 20 players at the same time.

What I should have said "other than Messier and Leetch" when was the last time the Ranger have had two top 20 players in the NHL at the same time like Panarin and Mika likely will be considered before next season?

The answer...maybe never?....lol

Is that better or do you have any other Ranger combos I haven't considered?

idk maybe Hank and Jagr or Hank and Gaborik? other than that, no not that can think of.

Not sure Hank was top 20 type at time Jagr was going en fuego for us but you get the point...not too many times in Ranger history we ever have such dominate forces like Panarin and Mika are. And once Igor does his thing, we might have 3 at same time which would be unprecedented in Ranger history.

I have him right at 15. What a great trade that was, wow. I never thought he would be this good.
