Microsoft Xbox Discussion Part II

Insecure females are not easy to manipulate? Only males? Women didn’t support the Nazi party in WW2? Come on I’m trying not to get political here but it’s very obvious the vibe this dialogue is giving off. My spidey sense are off the charts.

I don't see why it would be surprising that men would be the primary target for someone like this Nazi character. Women weren't viewed as equals in Nazi Germany, a women's role at time was "children, kitchen, church". They weren't asking women to pick up guns and and participate in violence and generally didn't particularly value their opinions.

And yes this line that seems to bother you so much also has parallels to modern day issues. Men seem to be more willing to participate in acts of violent than women. Whether that's storming the US Capitol (something like 80-90% of arrests were men), attempting to assassinate politicians or carrying out terrorist attacks in name of a religion, political ideology or just sexual frustration. A lot of men today would be perfect targets for someone like this Nazi character to influence.

And I just remembered there’s a female playable character in this. I couldn’t care less about Indiana jones never really latched onto but I feel for Indy fans and what’s about to happen to their boy. Marvel Spider-Man 2 all over again.

I find it interesting that your contention here isn't just that there's another playable character in an Indiana Jones game, but that the problem is specifically that it's a female character.

So you do agree with my impression that the vibe I’m getting that this game will have themes heavily conflating modern day political movements with Nazis.

Thats never been done before. Can’t wait.

Mark my words this game will be a deconstruction of Indy and he’ll be portrayed as a loser or a creep by the end. It’s all so predictable.

I don't know, you posted a screenshot of just one line of dialogue...

Okay?

All art is an expression of the time they were made. That's nothing new; ever since the early 00s games have been reflection of the general culture and sentiment of their time.

Indiana Jones, especially, always been heavy with assumptions and themes, its hardly revolutionary.

Very excited to try this Indy game, it was one of the upcoming games that pushed me to build a PC when MS bought Bethesda (granted, it seems its coming to PS5 pretty soon anyway). Only thing that worries me is some of the requirements. Anyone playing on PC for people and what resolution and GPU/CPU specs?

I think that line of dialogue is off-putting not for the implication but because of the literal words, it's just not how someone in the 1940s would talk. Using "insecure male" feels out of place for the time. Saying "it's easy to manipulate a demoralized man" would be better but obviously it's nitpicking.

Exactly. Thank you. It may as well say “straight white male”. It’s just so inauthentic and lazy (and I’m not white either before the “you must be insecure” folks jump on that). Reddit aura, if I wanted that I’d watch Netflix. Maybe it’s not lazy actually maybe it’s the best these writers can do now, which is even worse.

With that said, I will probably check this game out (since it is on gamepass) and report back. I only saw that screenshot from a reviewers tweet, haven’t played the game yet.

That is not a timed exclusive, though. It's supposedly more a technical issue. *cough* Series S * cough*

Phil Spencer apparently knows the date: Xbox Boss Knows When Players Will Finally Be Able To Experience Black Myth: Wukong
Either way, just saying it's more likely timed 3rd and 2nd party stuff. Outside of what Sony is forced to release on Series X or they agreed to something with Kojima, I expect it to be timed exclusives like Genshin impact, and not something from a major first party Sony team.

Because game development costs so much these days, multi-platform releases increase the chances of making more of that back.
As long as it’s a two way street I have no problem with Xbox games being available on PS.

I just love the Xbox controllers way more

I would not mind if they just dis simple swaps. "You get this game, we get this game." Games that could get an extended life and potentially bring more money to developers. For example, I would have no problem if Forza Horizon were to come out os PS 5. Though I still keep it updated, I haven't played it since the Universal Car Pack came out (with KITT), so who cares.

It would really help Halo in particular. I’m all for a bigger player base for that game

Presented by the game creators themselves, Developer_Direct offers an in-depth look at upcoming titles, how they’re being created, and who’s creating them. We’ll visit Compulsion Games in Montreal, Canada to learn more about South of Midnight, head to Montpellier, France to see Sandfall Interactive for a look at Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, stop by the legendary id Studios in Richardson, Texas to check in on DOOM: The Dark Ages, and visit a surprise location to see another studio’s brand new game.

Read recently that more time has passed from when the TES6 video was shown back during E3 to now, then when Skyrim released in late 2011 and that video debuting.

That question mark in the graphic lol, that is definitely Oblivion remake. I was hoping we'd see Clockwork Revolution there, wonder what's up with that game.
