All of these are free games aren't they? Theyre just making it available to download off gamepass.

None of these new IPs are really interesting to me other than redfall which is at the very least mid. The most interesting stuff is the DLC announcements.

I gotta say videogames are getting way too artsy. And not the good kind of artsy the "let's copy good movies and make them bad videogames" artsy.

The way League of Legends works is you earn a free currency for playing games and there's a buyable currency. Either one can unlock champions to play. There's probably well over 100 champions in League of Legends now.

For free players who started today, you would get a rotation of say 10 out of the 100 champions. This would change weekly or whatever the timeframe is to a new rotation.

If you have Xbox Game Pass it sounds like you get all 100 unlocked as long as you have a game pass subscription.
 
Not interested in too much they showed games-wise, but damn am I excited for Starfield.
 
Starfield looked awesome. Then they showed you can fly your ship and battle. Then they showed there’s over 1000 planets.

The game looks absolutely insane.

Diablo 4 too.

They showed Xbox Series X|S players that they didn't buy a paperweight with Console Exclusive game launches. This is the statement they needed to make today.

Diablo 4 isn’t console exclusive btw. But I do agree with you
 
I'm actually just as excited for Redfall as I am for Starfield. I know in terms of "wow", Starfield runs laps, but Arkane is such a good developer. They don't miss. I love the whole environment - I got Stranger Things vibes with the creepy attic with a vampire, door to an "upside down", and the carnival part. I can't wait to see the deeper dive on Tuesday.

I’m happy you can play it alone. I don’t like full on co-op games.

Agreed. For single player games, game design has been getting worse since the Gamecube/Xbox/PS2 years came to a close.
 


This is…weird? Somehow Xbox getting already-released Persona games is worsening the game for PS5 fans? A lot are also very angry at Hideo Kojima

People get really weird about their consoles, I don't get it. If they're such great games you'd think you'd want more people to be able to play them.

I don’t understand why it matters about exclusivity or anything. I’m an Xbox player, whether a game is on PS5 or not is irrelevant to me. I’d rather Microsoft pay the publisher to have it on Game Pass, rather than be exclusive, because that actually benefits me.

And honestly, I posted this either in this thread or the Summer Games Fest thread, I think it sucks Starfield is not coming to PS5. The game is so big, looks so cool, is so exciting being a new Bethesda IP - it’s sad to see it locked behind one specific platform (Microsoft). Like God of War, Halo, Horizon, Forza are all really cool series, but this one just seems too massive and cool to not have anyone enjoy.

So re: Avowed.

Jason Schreier tweeted something yesterday about dev troubles there but deleted it pretty quickly. Jez Cordon with Windows Central said he probably deleted it because of a lack of context there, but the game went through some changes at the end of 2020. Not a reboot, but changes. He has seen gameplay from mid-2021 of the game and doesn’t seem to worried about it.

I was hoping to see it yesterday but the 12 month context thing changed that. Still think it could be one of their late 2023 games. Given the studio, I’m pretty excited about it.
 
Redfall looks good, flintlock looks horrible and might have the worst looking protagonist I've ever seen.
