Microsoft Xbox Discussion Part II

Definitely disappointing with the delays but if they need more time, so be it.

Second half of this year feels awfully light for all. Feels like the COVID work from home stuff has finally caught up.

Devs apparently said they want to avoid Cyberpunk fate, hence the delay.

What issues?
I’m not saying the game has any issues. I’m just saying people shouldn’t be like “oh good it’s delayed don’t want another cyberpunk” when cyberpunk got delayed as well.

Halo infinite was a good salvage job and I rate it 8/10 but it does feel like a game that went through development problems and the production value of previous halo games is gone.

Tbh the Sony executive mentioning how putting games day 1 on subscription services reduces quality rings true. I think it even influences 3rd party games to a degree when they get that day 1 release. I think the only game that hit gamepass Day 1 that felt truely AAA no corners cut was Forza 5. If Gears 5 was day 1 I'd throw that in there too but that was some time ago.

Halo Infinite did get fixed visually. They're just behind on schedule on multiplayer elements and those are mostly due to Covid.
Laughable. They chose to outsource their programming for 1-2 year contracts to people from all over the world. Then just recycle them as the years go by. You have to be a real boob to think COVID seriously delayed Microsoft’s most iconic gaming IP. They intentionally chose this F2P model and it’s a real shame.

Halo has the fewest maps released of Halo and will be out for 360ish days before they even meet similar features included in Halo games from over 12 years ago. A huge lack of content supplemented by a cheap, cosmetic, grind-based progression system.

If I'm playing on a 11 year 1080p HDTV will I really notice the difference of the Series X to the Series S?

At 1080p I don't think there would be much difference. The price between the two is an entry level 4k, though, and Series S still looks great IMO, but I'm not a "gotta have 120fps 4k with Ray tracing hdr" graphics fiend lol

It also depends on if your 1080p tv is actually good. I still have a 1080p samsung tv and the image quality and brightness is comparable if not a bit better than my 4k Samsung. The only drawback I would say is the response time is horrible on the 1080p tv so it's actually preferable to play games in 30 fps mode at times on that tv.

As for Series S vs X it really depends. Like Halo Infinite is insanely unoptimized it looks bad on a series S on anything. Most things however look ok on Series S. You will notice the difference on a few things though even on a 1080p tv.

Origins is dropping the next-gen patch next week, enabling 60 fps on XSX (and probably XSS).

Can't wait. Loved Odyssey, but Valhalla fell short. Really excited to try Origins but it was unplayable at 30fps.

The only thing I liked about Origins was how it was quicker then odyssey and Valhalla.

World map was way too big though. I appreciate the effort, but if they cut at least 20% of it down to a smaller size, that time could've went into developing better AI, better side quests, more interactive map, etc.
