I think Chytils been good and will continue to get better lol.

All the talk about Lafreniere and Kakkos usage seems to make everyone forget that Chytil also came to this team as a teenager and has had like 3 games over 5 years with a capable linemate. He was a raw 21st OA pick, not a 1 or 2. Chytil is a great example of the fact that kids need to develop and grow offensively just as much as defensively, and that if you don't have a plan for how to do that or what the player can become, then you end up with a stalled product.

There's just too many examples of players who are deemed done, complete, and mediocre who have gone somewhere else and gotten better opportunities in better lineups and have thrived--at any age from early twenties to early thirties. I think this board is way too hard on Chytil. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him become a great player for us over the years. But just my opinion.

Chytil has been solid. That line plays in the offensive zone a lot but they need to simplify. Get the puck up to the D and crash the net. All 3 guys have good hands on deflections and around the crease.

To the Braun discussion...

Panarin-Strome-Vatrano
Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko
Lafreniere-Copp-Chytil
Goodrow-Motte

Miller-Trouba
Lindgren-Fox
Schneider-Braun
Nemeth

Rooney, Reaves, Hunt as extras. Rotate the wingers not named Panarin in the 4th line spot with Goodrow and Motte.

Problem solved.

I'm very doubtful Strome is going anywhere, just my opinion, i think he's got a big place in the room, he'd have to be fair in his deal ofcourse. i kinda feel that they will try and find money for Copp outside of Strome as well, is that Georgiev, Chytil, Nemeth's money that might facilitate that? I haven't looked into the actual numbers but there are pieces that can be moved out to facilitate that, especially with Othmann, Jones, Lundkvist etc in the wings. Thats just my opinion though. I think they both stay

Chytil is in his D+5. There's no more hope. This is him.
He's 22. There's always hope for someone that young who has physical attributes as good as his. But yea, the kid needs to study more tape. Much much more. Take stock of what better players do.

He's got zero feel on how to slow the game down to create space for himself. Gauthier genuinely can't handle the puck very well. Chytil has the physical gifts needed to be a great center. It's his hockey IQ that is lacking.

His hands and hockey iq are that of a 4th liner. His skating and puck protection is good but thats pretty much it at this point.

4. New York Rangers (45-20-6, +31. CF%: 26th, xGF%: 26th. PR: 3)

Losses to their in-state rival and to the woeful Flyers set them back a little bit, yet they’re just two points away from catching the Canes. Interesting to note that the Rangers’ possession metrics have been awful all season, but since the trade deadline rank third in both CF% and xGF%. They’re 4-1-0 against potential first-round opponents Pittsburgh and Boston this season.

No, he's really good along the boards and on the cycle and he's one of our better players crossing the neutral zone with control. He was great last year with Kakko. I think he and Lafreniere have worked better lately, but they're tied to an anchor rn. He also has an excellent shot, and a great backhand shot.

@Machinehead by the way, I just noticed what you did with the thread title, home game for us. Was it by accident or on purpose?

This offseason will be interesting. I dont think we can make any concrete predictions until we see how the team performs in the playoffs. They may be able to keep both Copp & Strome, but it would mean guys like Lindgren & Kakko get added to the bucket of moveable players with Nemeth/Chytil/Blais.

I think Chytil is getting unneccessary hatred at the moment because Lafreniere has gone on another pointless streak. Even though Chytil has clearly been the best player on that line. It would be nice if he could get some help from his wingers but that's not really happening.

Seems he's been around forever, but he's still all of 22 years old. He's been playing a solid no frills game, pitching in offense here and there, which is fine for a 3rd line/top 9 player.
Yeah, I'm with you. That's probably the reason as to WHY people are over him. 4 years ago (if I remember correctly) there were lots of moving parts and the Rangers were desperate for THEIR DRAFT CHOICE (along with Lias) to be successful. Monday morni ng QB says that had they "seasoned him" at the very least a year, he would be better for it AND more importantly, people might not be frustrated with him, as they are now. I mean, WHO exactly was a better option taking his spot? We have been destitute at the C position. Well, he ain't no superstar yet (and assuredly won't be) but I like and root for the kid (good kid with a funny smile) simply because we don't have any better options. I know you won't tell me I am wrong, but dare someone else to. Unless of course they wanna force the "Laf should be playing C", or better options are Rooney and whomever.

They haven't been a great fit in the past, but I think both the kids have looked good since laf got put on that line. Goodrow has been dead weight.

So if you're admitting that emotional feelings are tied to homegrown players, then what I'm arguing isn't stupid, it's correct.
I mean, if you want to go ahead and pretend that emotions have no place in sports fandom, I really don’t know what to say to you. They have a much more tenuous place in an FO, but amongst the fan base? You know that’s not reality right?

The reaction of Goodrow and Vatrano on the bench is priceless.

Schneids put the league on notice

Ever been out with a buddy who got a chip on his shoulder and then quickly bites off way more than he can chew?

He's almost feeling those punches himself lol

These next scenarios are considered game winning goals:

1) You win a game 8-1, the guy that scored the second goal in the first period gets the GWG.

2) You win the game 5-4, but it was 5-0 in the third period and the other team had a mad scramble to come within one. The fifth goal was stat padding at the time.

3) You win the game 2-1, that second goal came in the 5th minute of the game.
Goals that change the current status in the 3rd period (regardless of final score) would be interesting. So any 3rd period goal that either takes your team from losing to tied or tied to leading at the time.

I'm not saying they shouldn't have a place, but sometimes we have to look past them and make a fair assessment.

I've noticed this too. I think the team is really tired right now. Coming off the ice at the end of the game Mika looked dead tired. Fox looks gassed. Lindgren, Trouba, Igor -- team needs some days off soon. The core needs to a rest before the playoffs. A little worried about the playoffs if we don't get the core some real rest.
This is a good point. Is there a chance some players sit and rest before the playoffs? Would make some sense. Igor will get his rest but guys like Mika, Fox, Panarin, even Trouba and Miller could probably use a break.

I suspect after the team formally clinches the playoffs, we’ll see some of the key guys get nights off.

Is HFD going to make the playoffs?

Their regular season ends April 24th. NYR have 3 games left after that (26th, 27th, 29th. All at home). You'd expect a few call ups.

Playoffs start May 2nd. If the seeding is done by the 26th, I'd expect you'd see guys get games off. Most notably that 29th game.
