While I agree with you, I think Gallant wants a RHS in that spot to take passes from Kreider. Hank and Vally were talking about the two different PP goals, if you cheat to Kreider then Strome is open. If you cheat to Strome than Kreider is open for the redirect. The open spot would be Panarin but obviously that's not happening so I think we'll have 4 RHS on the PP until Panarin's contract is up.
Because of Kreider we now have 4 ways to beat a team on the PP which is dangerous. Zib one timer. Kreider deflection from Panarin side of the net. Kreider deflection from Fox in front of the net. Kreider pass to Strome in slot or across the crease to Zib. The best way to defend is to pressure Fox.

This team is having the same PP set up for the 3-4 seasons? The Rangers might as well just trade Lafreniere and Kakko. The Rangers are wasting their talents.

How many times have Kreider and Strome connected on that play on the PP? Strome has 4 goals on the power play. All of the Kreider tip in's and deflections are because of Strome and nothing to do with Kreider's excellent eye-hand coordination. Even back in the Boston College days, Kreider displayed that ability.

honestly it was a fine game. definitely the least impressive game they've played since the TDL but that's fine, not every game can be great.

We did f*** all those last two periods but so did the Devils. definitely not upset about it, especially given how we've played otherwise.

He is turning out to be a great MSG commenter. So smart about the game. I didn't think anyone could compete with Vally. But now,... I actually look forward more to what Hank has to say.

His insight tonight,... on how when everyone is skating, it's easier for players to know what to do away from the puck is brilliant.

When the forwards are coming back hard (skating),... it allows the D-men to step up like Schneider did laying out that guy in the neutral zone.

Goalies are like Catchers. they play a position that has a unique vantage point that allows them to study the game. They make good commentators because of this insight.

For example, jumping off of @Loki Dog 74, people are coming around to the idea that Chytil kind of sucks, but only now because he's a Rangers draft pick.

If a free agent came here and played like Chytil for half as long as Chytil has been here, somebody on the board would have murdered him.
Maybe because a free agent, by definition, would be in his mid twenties and likely a finished product?

I was a huge Chytil pumper. It’s looking like I may be wrong about him.

That said, what you are arguing is stupid. Of course the fans here are going to give a kid like Fil more leash and have an emotional rooting interest in his success. He was pretty much the kickoff of the rebuild. There are feelings tied to that.

also, Goodrow f***ing sucks lately

he's been our worst player since the new year. every time he touches the puck it's a turnover. I counted several times he singlehandidly killed the play last night on Chytil's line. it was absolutely f***ing maddening
He’s a fourth liner/ forechecker asking him to play with skill guys gets you this.
When he’s on the fourth he looks much better.

I've noticed this too. I think the team is really tired right now. Coming off the ice at the end of the game Mika looked dead tired. Fox looks gassed. Lindgren, Trouba, Igor -- team needs some days off soon. The core needs to a rest before the playoffs. A little worried about the playoffs if we don't get the core some real rest.

Laffy and Chytil are not good enough to drive their lines by themselves. Goodrow has been a blackhole. Vatrano, Kakko or Copp there helps that line immensely

Every team thats still in playoff contention is tired

Everyone is going through it.

The teams conditioning is questionable though. They need to be a bit harder on them during the offseasons as well.

So if you're admitting that emotional feelings are tied to homegrown players, then what I'm arguing isn't stupid, it's correct.

I wouldn't be opposed to giving Braun/Nemeth more games and I do think Nemeth is a bit better than he has currently shown this season...but the man is having a down year. This happens. I think Schneider/Braun is the best the rangers can do this season.

Goodrow killed that third line last night and Chytil didn't help much either but I expect better play out of Goodrow. He's been underwhelming recently. I think Kakko or one of Copp/Vatrano slotting down would help that third line out big time. Brodz is good as a fourth liner and we got him for cheap for another two years. No need for Rooney next season.

I thought Goodrow had some really good shifts last night. He does what he does and hes not going to drive play offensively. He disrupts the other team.

On a deep team (like the Rangers will be once Kakko and Rooney come back) he needs to be creating havoc on a strong 4th line. Thats where he will likely be.

So yeah Id also like to see Kakko or Copp/Vatrano on the third to bolster it offensively.

As far as Rooney/Brodz go, I like what Brodz has brought. I'd like to see them both in the postseason before making a decision on Rooney. It also goes for Copp/Strome. For this team to take the next step they need to formulate their lineup to win playoff series. We havent seen enough of a lot of these players in a playoff atmosphere to make a fully informed decision yet. At least I havent

Ugly but they got it done.

Miller, Geo, 4th line all with strong games.

Sucks to see Lafreniere cool right down with Chytil and Goodrow.
Chytil had his classic 3 game stretch of looking like a hockey player then reverted right back to not knowing how to use literally any other player on the ice and Goodrow’s been pedestrian for months now.

Sucks Laf isn’t scoring anymore but he’s still getting good looks out there (IMO) with not much to work with.

Goodrow shouldn't playing with Laf and Chytil. I get that he's great defensively but he's been trying too hard in the O zone. He forces passes that aren't there and misses them when they're open.

Luckily, it will be one of Vatrano, Copp or Kakko soon

Squad rotation is a must. These games are very nearly reaching meaningless territory.

Hajek, Gauthier, McKegg, Rooney, Kakko, Nemeth getting cycled into the lineup in the home stretch. Some games off for other guys.

In 05-06 the team burned out down the stretch. The same thing happened in 10-11 and Callahan broke his foot. No one had any juice left except Wolski and Drury who was coming back from injury. Stepan, Dubinsky, Gaborik all looked cooked.

The only reason Braun hasn't played every game is because NHL coaches absolutely love not putting their best lineup on the ice.
I know the rest of you might think I should this....but just watch THIS you guys

A win (45% luck, 27.5% other team's play, 27.5% our team) PROVES I WUZ RIGHT

I think Chytils been good and will continue to get better lol.

All the talk about Lafreniere and Kakkos usage seems to make everyone forget that Chytil also came to this team as a teenager and has had like 3 games over 5 years with a capable linemate. He was a raw 21st OA pick, not a 1 or 2. Chytil is a great example of the fact that kids need to develop and grow offensively just as much as defensively, and that if you don't have a plan for how to do that or what the player can become, then you end up with a stalled product.

There's just too many examples of players who are deemed done, complete, and mediocre who have gone somewhere else and gotten better opportunities in better lineups and have thrived--at any age from early twenties to early thirties. I think this board is way too hard on Chytil. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him become a great player for us over the years. But just my opinion.

Yes, it was this random win and not Braun's 12 year career.
