The Hutchinson injury really breaks my heart. BTW DT Peko is out for the season too, he's had a good season so far too, imo. Can't win meaningful games without an at least average D-Line and no pass rush. Sad, I've had high hopes for this season.

And it was a freak play where his leg collided with his teammates.

Lions need something on the DL. What they have left is unlikely good enough to win the SB.

Hopefully it's a shootout in Minnesota and the Raiders get crushed. Maxx in Honolulu Blue would be a beautiful thing THIS year, let alone next year opposite Hutch.
Both Garrett and Crosby do not have anymore guaranteed money on their contracts after this season.

That being said, it would also require any team with their rights to hand them both restructured contracts that pay them high $20's per season for at least 2 and for Maxx 3 years since he's 2 years younger than Garrett.

Garrett has an option that can become guaranteed if he is still on the roster by the 1st week of the new league year but at only $19 mill, but again, an elite player like that is going to look to get his deal redone and get that pushed up by several million.

Crosby's cap hit for 2024 (base salary is $1.35 mill per game). Garrett's is much lower (ala Cooper due to a restructure) at like $70K per game.

That's not the point. Either guy could be $50M AAV and I'd still do it. After the decades of historic ineptitude, Detroit is finally and officially in a window to win a Super Bowl. It's this season and maybe another year or two - after that they could blow up the entire roster for all I care, but RIGHT NOW is the time to pounce on an opportunity that might not come around again for who knows how long.

San Francisco, Baltimore, and even Kansas City look weaker this year than last year. Even if Hutchinson had never gotten hurt, I'd still want the Lions to do absolutely everything they could to become as big a prohibitive favorite as possible. It took over 60 years to get back here; win the damn championship and sort out the mess later.

EDIT: Haha, honestly, if the Lions did win a Super Bowl, you could probably have half a million people at the parade sign waivers that they'd pay $100 each to reimburse the team for their salary cap headaches.

Most important thing to take away from the Lions win today is that they can go on the road and beat the elite of the NFL. Thats huge, because I think they are going to have to do that in the playoffs. The Lions look like legit Super Bowl contenders, but the fact is the Vikings remaining schedule is butter soft. I think the Vikes will win the division and nab the #1 seed in the NFC, which means the Lions will be road warriors in the playoffs.

But they proved today they can handle it if that is indeed what they have to do

I think they also proved they can win without Hutchinson, however I really don't like the idea of giving a guy like Mahomes all the time thatz Darn old had back there. They need to make a move for some pass rush help.

I'm not a Crosby/Garrett or bust guy... but even a Zadarius Smith or something along those lines is needed. I like Paschal as a player but he cant be your best edge player getting after the QB if you want to consistently win

Jameson Williams testing positive for PES, tsk tsk. The length of suspension points to a stimulant, diuretic, or masking agent. Doesn't seem like anything serious, dude probably popped a teammates adderall and got hit with a random drop.

Random - I've heard a YouTube channel or maybe a documentary is out there with former MLB pitchers talking about crucial past at-bats and the whole rock-paper-scissors-like strategy that occurs in their minds. Does anyone know anything like this (or did I just dream it?)?

Really weird they havent officially announced his suspension yet, makes me wonder if some info came to light that is going to have it go away/be worse than 2 games

Not that clip specifically but yeah stuff like that with more detail I find fascinating - Thanks. And I don't personally like watching baseball live but love to hear someone narrating the chess game.

“This week I was notified by the NFL that I have been suspended for a violation of the Performance Enhancing Substances Policy.

The news came as a complete surprise that I am still trying to understand.

I don’t take supplements or vitamins and I am overly cautious about even taking over-the-counter medicine. At no time have I ever taken something in an attempt to cheat or look for an unfair advantage. I understand that I am responsible for everything that goes into my body and I have to take responsibility in this instance.

I have nothing but love and respect for this game, my teammates, coaches, the Lions organization and the City of Detroit. It is disappointing to accept this suspension, and it will hurt me to be away from the team as they prepare this week. So out of respect to my teammates, this will be the last time I address this matter.”

Great win by the Lions vs the Titans today, but keep in mind, these are the Titans. They might not be THE worst team in football, but their special teams IS the worst in football, hand down. It seemed like 90% of the Lions points today were a result of some special teams play.

I was really impressed with how Goff played against Minnesota. I am not a Lions fan but they would be my pick to come out of the NFC, they continue to impress me.

Thanks! I REALLY hope they add a pass rusher by the deadline - with just a bit more pressure against the type of QBs they will likely face in the playoffs, they really could win the whole thing this year.

In a perfect world, you get two. Getting Za'Darius Smith and Trey Hendrickson or one of them with Azeez Ojulari or Harold Landry.

I think we should probably only hope for one, but it would be nice to get someone a little better at the Hutch and Davenport roles considering we lost both of them to injury for the year.

I would have no issue going with one of those guys and then Pashal at the other end spot. Sure you can get them both I guess, but I dont think 2 ends are absolutely must have either. They'll have Hutch foir the Superbowl anyways lol

If that were the case, which I don't think will happen, you'd probably want to be prepared to have Hutch on a pretty conservative snap count. That's a lot of time away from actual football activity, probably a very short time to ramp up in practice.

With the prices of the market and the contract situations, if you can get Hendrickson for 2 seconds and Ojulari for like a fourth, wouldn't you rather have that and the peace of mind that comes with it for the cost of an extra 4th rounder?
