I think we were just lucky that most players were performing above expectations they seem to have dropped back to their level. Look at Kucherov. 31 points in 17 games... It's a hot streak.
We had several players going through one of those periods in the season at the same time. We scored 5 goals a game at some point, Grabner getting a hattrick, Puempel getting a hattrick, Holden playing as if he was a top-pairing D-man, Kreider going into beast mode...

Rather Grabner go quiet now and come alive in the playoffs.
Either way his speed has been so vital to this team's game this year and pushing the play.
They have close to a handful of games left. Let them work out the kinks now.

Him being able to create breakaways in the playoffs will be important. Even if he doesn't score on all of them.
Just being able to put the team on their heels and having to back check a lot will put the game in the Rangers favor.

Yea I don't think people realize the importance of speed in the playoffs when everything tightens up. It's why hagelin was so valuable here in the playoffs. Let's wait and see what happens before crying about a first round pick

There was no way the Rangers, and some of the guys, were going to keep up those paces. Not in today's NHL.
The league is going to adjust a bit, which they have. They started closing the gaps, that's what you do.
Some guys were also overachieving a bit. As a fan, it's easy to get a little too high when things are going great and too down when they aren't. I'd say overall, things have averaged out to about where they should be.
I think that it is both. He was playing over his head and most coaches who are worth anything began clogging the neutral zone against the Rangers to which they still have no answer for.
Dude is snake bit right now. I guess we always knew that Grabner couldn't keep this level of play up even though we hoped he could. At least his performance of late is making it easier for the Rangers not to protect him in the draft.
It's tricky. I wanna keep Fast and I know we need Raanta.
But you can tell we need a guy like Grabner too, with or without the overachieving early goal total. When we moved Hagelin it was noticeable. He became Hagelin. We lose him, we'll notice it again. No easy choice here.

I never would have protected him cause it's an obvious like when Boyle scores a bunch that one year . Good players but 4th line

He is not Matthews or Crosby, 27 Goals are 27 Goals.
When he didn't score so much before and he would do it now, all would say, he is so great in that moment..so he was "great" in November-Januray now he is bad?

His Defens play is the same and its really good..
And please we all know, he was injured nobody knows really that he is 100% healthy or not..

I do not think it was that much of a question. Grabner's offense has been nice, but it is an aberration. He is what he is. A very nice 3rd line player. But that's it.

AV said he is a 3rd line player, and he has been playing 4th line most of his time at Islanders - we can`t expect too much of Grabner. He has one of his best seasons here in New York, no doubts about that and a contract year so happy for him! I think Vegas will get him or Oscar Lindberg in the summer window unless they get protected.

Exactly. He is not a top line scorer. The offense has been nice and needed, but it cannot be counted upon. At least not to the level that he was going at.
