Michael Bunting kicks Trent Frederic with his skate. Intentional or lost balance?

Im still blown away nobody beat that guys head in, what a coward.
There should be a you get fined x amount of times it’s a 2 game suspension. Add another it’s 3 and carry it forward year over year. F around and find out. The rat punches and kicks, if indeed bunting did kick him would be way less prevalent

When David Kampf got hit in the head and I created the thread asking if Nino Niederreiter might be suspended, this is the first thing you said.

On this thread about Bunting possibly being suspended, here is the first thing you said.

So, you are taking whatever side is against the Maple Leafs depending on the play in question.
Always the poor victim.
Newsflash; every team gets good and bad calls. The Leafs do as well.
That’s nhl reffing. No need to whine after every game and play the victim card. You’ll enjoy sports more if you just accept that there are good and bad calls every game for every team and give the winning team some credit. There’s no conspiracy against the Leafs. It’s just the nature of officiating. Some calls go your way and some don’t. No need to constantly be digging up old quotes and videos to play the victim. Just enjoy the fact you have a good team. There’s no shame in losing to a great team like Tampa and no need to make lame excuses. Your team will have a chance this year to get revenge this year. Enjoy!

Everyone hates the Leafs... because why? What legitimate reason is there to think that? Popularity?

American fans don't care about the Leafs and the American media rarely brings them up. You never see anyone thrashing the also very popular Rangers or their fans. I wonder why that is.

Could it be that the victim complex Leafs fans have be solely due to themselves and not the team? That continually pumping up a franchise that's done nothing is annoying people?
You are right. Most people don't care about the Leafs or any other team really except obviously, their own. But, there are a few who are not Leaf fans who are obsessed with the Leafs. There is no victim complex.

Bunting should drop the gloves with Freddy next game, but he won’t
Why? if anything Freddy should go after him.

Nothing should happen to Bunting because last season when Mitch Marner got kicked in the leg by the skate of Nikita Kucherov he wasn't fined or suspended.

Comparing a kick with the laces of the skate vs the blade of the skate is grossly disingenuous. Be better, don't embarrass Leafs nation.

The real conspiracy is that a lot of eyeballs are watching the leafs so refs will call the game as accurately and fair as possible. Which means it's unlikely leafs will get any favors especially since they're not a rough team. (And yes, in the moment of a game, refs essentially do give favors due to whatever they feel like the flow of the game should be like) Leafs definitely do once in a while (peculiarly this season) but it's usually tilted towards the other team because they know how to play agasint the Leafs and everyone knows refs won't call everything. Plus they don't want to look bias (Darryl Sutter call out). Hence why Leafs play one of the most 5 on 5 hockey. They've have been at the bottom half of the league in Power play Opportunities and Penalty Kills for a while now.

Though I'll say again, this year is a bit different. Maybe Darryl Sutter is actually onto something 🤔

I'm sorry but I see no differences between the kick from Kucherov and the kick from Bunting.

Do you honestly think Marner was faking it with the way skating off the ice after Kucherov did that?

Do you remember when Joffrey Lupul was playing for Toronto during the 2012-13 Season and hit Victor Hedman in the head during a game? He ended up being suspended for 2 games, which was the right call because it was a clear head shot. However, I remember some Leafs fans were speculating that the only reason he only got 2 games because at that time the GM's were meeting in Toronto and were at that game, so if it was any other night he might have got 1 game due to never being suspended before that.

The very next night when Rick Nash was playing for the Rangers he gave a head shot on Tomas Kopecky, however unlike Lupul he wasn't suspended. I only bring this up because I remember Damien Cox saying the Leafs should have appealed Lupul's suspension or ask the league why nothing was done to Nash?

In the end, Bunting and Kucherov got away with it. And that's essentially what I'm talking about. Leafs don't need to be "tougher" in a classic sense especially in today's era. The Leafs team as whole needs to develop traits of playing dirty, cheating, complaining etc. They need to be way more annoying to play agasint. Leafs fans do that lol but not the actual team. Give real reasons why other teams and their fans to dislike you. And you will get away with more stuff cause refs won't call everything. Like Bunting and this thread.

I actually do agree with this. I love Bunting and how much he pisses other teams off in general but once or twice a season you gotta drop the gloves even if you suck at it if you are going to play the rat all year. Just my opinion on it.

To be honest there's a handful of Leaf fans on this forum that are probably responsible for at least 25% (if not more)of daily post here. Unfortunately those are the same individuals who have the "victim mentallity" and cry fowl if anything doesn't go the "Leafs way". Everyone knows who they are, most ignore them. I feel bad for the majority of Leaf fans here who get a bad reputation due to these individuals.

To be honest another 25% of daily posts here are the same handful of posters whining about Leafs fans , and half of Leaf threads aren't even started by Leafs fans... you are just describing "homers", but when Leafs fans are homers there's like a brigade of you whining and crying about their complaining...it's hilarious seeing fans from other insanely homer fanbases saying this like their shit doesn't stink.

Most don't ignore them, if they put on their big-boy-pants did ignore them (scrolling by, not obsessively responding to everyone, or even using the handy "ignore" function for posters triggering your anger), every Leaf thread would be about half as many pages. We have a dumb fanbase in Leaf land but it's still hilarious how much outrage it generates from other fans comparatively.

Well said.

Most ignore them, it's a minority group who respond and they're very active on this forum. Also these" Leaf posters" are constantly adding to the fire even if they didn't start the thread.
example:

New Thread name: Matthews is the best XYZ
Common Leaf response: Yes he is (reasons) you're just jealous etc etc. (always the same Leaf posters)

New Thread Name: Bruins are the best team since XYZ
Common Bruins response: Shut this thread down, lock this jinx thread pls.

Of course there's outlier responses, but on average this sums up a lot. It is an over representation of the most active posters on the forums, but they do contribute the most.

I guarantee you Frederic will look for a fight against Bunting next game. Now, the question is... does Bunting accept, or does he wait until a ref is in front of him and do his gamely "Hold me back!" gimmick?

Thanks for the laugh, even more funny if you actually believe it.

No chance he fights. He's a rat and that's what makes him effective. If Frederic wants to take a penalty trying to catch him, that would be very nice. Bruins fans should be familiar with the type, not near as good and not quite as ratty as Marchand, but has that same "love to have him on your team, hate him on other teams" kind of guy.

You're bringing up two plays from a decade ago and rulings by that pinnacle of consistency and reason that is the Dept of Player Safety to make what point exactly?
